Greetings,
I 'know' what situation I am running for tomorrow's game session - I'm just stuck on a name for an annoying NPC.
The players are officers on a Starfleet ship that are sent to investigate lost cmmunications with him or rescue him and his family.
At some point in the advenmture I know this NPC might lose it and go a little 'crazy.
He sees the native intelligent life forms on the planet as 'Demons in the Sand'.....stuff like that.
He thought they were all dead centuries ago.
The NPC is an Archeologist with some knowledge of anthropology as well as desert survival.
Any suggestions on a Name for him?
- Ed C.
Cameron Weatherby is my vote
Dr. Jaziel "Zeke" Dildollix.
Paul Atreides.
Dr. Adrian Tallis.
Dr. Theodore Kane.
Professor Maximilian Argo.
Dr. Harlan Ukwembe.
Dr. Noriko Kumitori (just to change it up for a female name).
So what did you eventually go with?
Was it Dr. Dildollix?

No, NOPE, never...not going to happen. Did not happen.
Was looking for real sounding names, not stupid jokes.

Of Course not.
My youngest player in that group is 13, my oldest player in that group is in her 60s I don't 'joke' names for NPCs. However that being certain names have connotations subliminal or not. Naming a character 'Wilbur' instead of "Bill"/William for example. One sounds weak amd comical, the other might not.
-Ed C.
Lt. Koltar perhaps?

I think it's quaint you bring your grandma and niece/nephew together for family game night. Do you play in your mom's basement?

I bet you're fun at parties.
Go FUCK yourself Effete!!
The older woman is a military veteran and my friend who has cancer - the rrason I started the campaign.
Effete, you are a piece of shit as a Human Being.
There is a married couple playing in my group, the 13 year old is their son.

For someone with no sense of humor, I think it's funny how you try to blame me for being insensitive about things I had absolutely no knowledge of. Your overreaction was amusingly absurd.

I guess cosplayers have no sense of humor. Learn something new every day

Maybe not to you. But thats because you dont have a sense of humor

But I DO have a sense of humor - it just doesn't match yours. I love the comedy of Monty Python and Eddie Izzard, and also Tig Notaro.
Also, its
Captain Khar'Ton of the House Koltar - last rank I was promoted to when I was active in that Klingon group years ago.
(never 'cosplayed' in my life)

Nah, I know a few cosplayers who are a riot to be around. Is Koltar even a cosplayer, or is the profile pic just some rando of the internet? I dunno!
The thing is, all of this could have been avoided if he just answered the fukken question instead of virtue signalling about how seriously he takes his gaming.

He is dressed like a klingon so, I would say he is.
The profile picture IS me in my Klingon uniform wearing a top hat.

That's "Cosplay" by definition.
No, it isn't we never called it 'cosplay' - it was the early 1990s and no one was using that obnoxious term.
By-the-way your post has nothing to do with the opening question of this thread - names for an NPC scientist. A Human NPC (Not a Klingon)
Mocking my name or picture is not the question or conversation.
-Ed C.
What name did you use for the NPC, Captain Koltar? Just tell us the name and all this can be over. You can go back home to your family. Watch the sunset on Qo'noS. You want to do that, right? C'mon... just tell us the name of the NPC?

You are cosplaying. Your profile picture is you in a cosplay. There is no shame in that. I don't have any stake in this weird argument but I find your pedantry to be a bit strange.
So 'Dr. Dildollix' is still available?

It is, but you have to pronounce it in the blended language of the 22nd-century Castilian-Oaxacan colony from which it came, i.e. "dee-doh-YEESH".

The term wasn't in common use back then. Dictionaries describe usage. They are not authoritative. We used to call it "dressing up as _______." But now this cringeworthy Japanese-English word is the norm. "Cos" because you're too lazy to say costume and "play" because you're....?.... See? It's a silly word.
