Please check out my free rpg at: //www.1km.1kt.net/rpg/picking-sides-the-role-playing-game
Do you have another link? I can't hit that one, no server error.
Sorry, typos will be the death of me.

If that doesn't work:

It's the first one on the page, last time I looked. :) Thanks for your patience.
One more try: //www.1km.1kt.net/rpg/picking-sides-the-role-playing-game
I can't hit it, but my internet has been spotty all night. I'll try again tomorrow. Sorry about that.
teckno77: I cannot find any working link, even my google-fu failed...
edit: I found it after all...
After reading it... well if GM can modify only by thirty, then the characters are going to fail quite frecvently I think... alos why should I play this game when there is Mage: the ascension, where the characters can do similar think, but with better backstory and system... even Nobilis can probably do these thinkg s better... What it really lacks is some sort of favour, the element looks to be chinese, but I am not sure if spirit is in chinese elemnts, but why does it use these elements...m just why...
I think the link is http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/picking-sides-the-role-playing-game
(you had a dot between '1km' and '1kt').

It seems to be a combination of the Greek classical elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and sometimes aether, spirit, or void), and the Chinese (Earth, Fire, Water, Metal and Wood).

teckno, can you post an example of an adventure for this system?
Sorry for the confusion.
Mage: the Ascension certainly influenced me.
It's supposed to be a universal system for "magic."
The novel gives more examples, of course.
Adventures would include encountering Spirits, encountering other users of the Elements, exploring Heaven/hell in person (with the Spirit Element), discovering that many mythologies are really stories about the Spirits, trying to hamper the Spirits as they try to influence men to do evil, etc.
Maybe a plus or minus 50% would have been better.
Thanks for posting a link to your game. I'll check it out. :)
teckno72: That's exactly what Mage once did...

But this is free.

OK, so can you post an example of how one of these could work?
Hey Teckno72,
Thanks for sharing your RPG for free and welcome to the band of giving-things-away-for-free brigade. I've had a quick flick through and it would be cool to have a little more there for the GM to work with. A sample adventure or examples of play would make it much more playable. And welcome!
Thanks for the link. The "magic" system is similar - but certainly not the same - to something I am working on with a friend at the moment. It's neat to see your take on it. Thanks again for sharing.
"Try This"
An old friend of your character, Talvi Williams, has been putting off her brain cancer for some months. It seems that her condition could worsen when the doctors operate, and she needs a place to spend her last years on earth. She calls you and asks you if you could check out her family home that she inherited some years ago to see if it is livable still. As her only living friend, you agree to check out the place.
Unfortunately, the house is haunted by the ghosts of Talvi's late family. The adventure continues as the house is explored and the ghosts are interacted with. This is only one of the things you could do with my game.

Of course, even that scenario might go very differently if the PCs are aware that a high-level Wood Elementalist could cure the cancer...

Thanks. In that case, I'd think about allowing characters that aren't magicians eg werewolves, vampire hunters etc.
You could play "normal" humans without the Elemental magic. Or, you could play at Levels 1 or 2 (mostly sensory magic). Also Spirits are possible, if (maybe) problematic for the game master.

OK, but they don't get any powers to compensate for their lack of magic?

This elemental magic seems to cover all the supernatural powers available to humans, as opposed to Spirits (ghosts, angels and demons). I suppose that you could have the vices or sins associated with particular elements gradually warp a person into a monster in extreme cases (greed for vampires, perhaps, or wrath for werewolves), but that might remove humanity from the centre of the setting. It's a little like
Mage: The Ascension in that respect as well.
It would probably be like playing Mulder and Scully of X-Files fame. That does seem to be fun sometimes. In the book, I sometimes have them become somewhat demonic in shape. Other times, they are just normal. Other times, they're genetically-altered psychics, aliens, etc.
