Title: My Gaming Table is Ready For Chargen
Post by: Zachary The First on September 07, 2013, 10:39:25 AM
I posted about this on my site (http://www.rpgblog2.com/2013/09/ready-for-chargen-and-campaign.html), but I thought I'd share a few pics. We're having our group character creation for our Middle Isles (http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the-middle-isles) RuneQuest 6 tomorrow, and I'm ready for the players!

Here's my gaming table:

I'm using Campaign Coins for currency in this game, so I picked up an awesome wooden chest (on sale!) at Hobby Lobby to hold our treasury. Looks nice, I think:

Hobby Lobby is the absolute best. So many crafty things, even for decidedly not crafty people.

Additionally, each game session, one player, by merit of their roleplaying or other awesome actions, will be voted MVP. This is something I'm bringing back that I did not do in my last game. That week's MVP will either get to choose from the dice bin, or select a scroll. The scrolls range from a one-time skill bonus, to an extra d30 roll, and rarely and dangerously, no bonus at all (Explosive Runes, don't you know). So whether they want a nice new d30 or d5 for their collection (or some other, more mundance dice), or want to gamble on an in-game bonus, they have their pick:

The scrolls were very easy to make; trust me, I'm not artsy. I simply used some nice stationery, wrote what the boon was in my best (read: not so great) cursive, and used a bit of sealing wax for a "GM seal" by the signature. I then used a dab of superglue to secure the red ribbon to itself. I think they'll be a nice addition and change from the bonus cards I used to print off in the past.

It's going to be a full house this time; I have 7 players, which is as big a campaign as I've run in about 3-4 years. I've prepped about as much as I can prep, so we'll see how things go. I feel like I'm ready!

Soak a piece of printer paper in either tea or coffee and let it dry = homespun parchment

Oh yes! A great suggestion! I've actually had good results with tea, as well--black tea, nothing herbal. :)

Good for you.
Looks like fun.
& is a lot for a skill based game, often, but I am sure you'll handle it just fine.

Looks like fun. Exactly how does the MVP election work?

Thanks. Feel free to offer any advice as I run into issues... :)

Player vote, though in the past, I've elected a 2nd MVP if it's deserved.
