Title: Most of the Good Videos about DCC, focus upon very Low Level Play.
Post by: Jam The MF on April 25, 2021, 04:38:45 AM
I'd love to hear from DMs who are running games for a group of say 5th Level Characters and above.  How gonzo have your games gotten?  How crazy has the unpredictability of Magic been at your table?  How hard has it been for your characters to survive to see 5th level and above?

I don't run a gonzo game, so its not all that gonzo. That said:

The magic has been unpredictable, but I don't know if I would call it crazy. There has been a bit of corruption and patron taint. And two of the four Cleric PCs their god's disapproval such that they must go on a quest to aid the crippled, blind, lamed, sickly, etc. There have been times when the Wizards have rolled well. One time, the PCs are about the fight the final big-bad demon. The Wizard casts Magic Missile, rolls stupid high, and kills it with 69 points of damage. And one Wizard has been killingly effective with Color Spray at all the wrong times.

I have been running my DCC campaign for 3+ years. We play every two to three weeks. Each player has anywhere from four to six PCs. Out of 18 PCs only one has made it to 5th level. So far, other than 0-level funnels, only one PC has died, but there have been numerous times where a PC has been one hit away from being killed (I tend to roll like crap).

I think that, while not a video series you could shearch for Bill the Elf's channel on YT, there's the recordings of Pundit's last sun game.

I might be wrong and it's not DCC but I think it is.

Can confirm. Pundit's Last Sun game is played with DCC.
