Title: Let's see some nice dungeon maps
Post by: RunningLaser on March 24, 2014, 11:13:30 AM
I love dungeon maps.  When I opened Gygax Magazine issue 3 and saw that Marmoreal Tomb map, I was impressed (Great job Benoist!).  Gib had one in another thread that looked awesome too.

Figured I'd start this thread as a way for folks to post dungeon maps that they think look good.

Dyson Logos (http://rpgcharacters.wordpress.com/maps/).
Far too many to post them here.

Thank you! And agreed about Gib's maps. I like his style too!

Speaking of the Marmoreal Tomb, these are the originals:

And there's more (much more) to come from GP Adventures. To wit:

One day, my scenario "Caverns of the Troglodyte King" will be translated and published and then... completely outshined, but the awesome map that my good friend Oliver did for it.

Shit!

HQ version of the map, for close ups here (http://reservoirelves.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/kort-troglodytkongens-huler.jpg).

That's the kind of awesome fun map I can use for my DCC game!

Sweet map! Reminds me of Gib's work, in a good way!

Hey DK, what's going on in room 15? Trog party?

thanx guys - it really is a nice map, isn't it. The original is hanging framed on my 8-year old sons wall.

And I think you are right on the money with DCC, Pundit. The scenario was written using Lamentations of The Flame Princess rules, but the map oozes DCC. I might reskin the scenario for DCC, once I get the time to go through my copy. Feel free to use it for a DCC game.

And room 15 is the Trog kitchen. Abandoned and decaying, and with mind-reading telepathic fungus hiding in the old pots and pans :)

That high-res version is really good - there are so many details in there to pore over.

I've started doing some pseudo-illustration/mapping:

^ Inspiring stuff Fuseboy, great mix of diagrammatic and evocative!  The only thing I would change is maybe some fill or gradient behind those battlements for clarity.

Thanks! And yes, you've confirmed a niggling feeling I had about the depth confusion in that one.

Would you show that to the players, or is it strictly for DM's use?

It's part of a batch of 1PDC-inspired adventures (http://blog.trilemma.com/search/label/adventure) I've been making, so it's intended for the DM.  But just as a map, I suppose you could share it with the players.  (Someone contacted me to get a 'players map' version.)
