Kobold Press and Wolfgang Baur bend the knee to a race-obsessed fanatic for no good reason.

Indeed I will. I'm considering something called Sword and Caravan instead. :)

Looking good so far!
It's hard to believe how people can cave in so easily about some silly article that was written years ago.
And even worse, how the author then fauns at their feet.
I've said it time and time again. These people only have the power you give them.
Hold your ground and tell them to fluck off.
I actually read the original book years ago, it was part of a 2013 bundle of holding. So I dug it out of my archive and re-read it.
That essay isn't even about Fauxrabia as a setting, it's more specifically about re-creating the Arabian Nights fairy tale story. He talks about the framing story, quick scene transitions, rapid travel by means of genies, and so on. The fact that he focuses on style and tone, rather than details, is especially appropriate for a discussion of genre re-creation of a specific type of adventuresome fairy tale.
Which makes Kobold's apologizing and self-censoring even sillier.
