Title: Journey to the Rock
Post by: Gabriel on December 31, 2007, 08:35:48 PM
I played this adventure about a month ago.

I imagine there's a worse adventure out there.  I'd hate to see it, though.

The good thing was the whole mess quite quickly became recognized for the crap it was.  My GM started overblowing his boxed text as much as he could.  My PC and henchmen started doing their MST3K routine.

But the most surreal thing as I coasted down the railroad tracks was when some gnomes appeared out of the forest lugging a sailing ship along.  The GM almost died laughing as I just gave him a look of total bewilderment at how to even make fun of the event.

And that was nothing compared to the challenge of THE ROCK!  It was so lame, it must be experienced to be believed.

In the end, I suggested to the GM that the whole thing must have been the local wizard's way of fucking with the heads of random adventurer passersby.  We had an interesting in character (PC to henchman) as well as out of character discussion about that.  We came to the conclusion that it was the only explanation which made sense, although the module itself doesn't seem to have been written with anything resembling that assumption.

My PC fled the area of the local wizard as quickly as possible.  Beware of wizards with much too much time on their hands.

Spoilers for The Rock challenge, please. :)

Does it involve a muscular guy asking you to sniff his cullinary creations?
