How to piss off the race marxists of WotC

Good interview on Joe Manganiello on his time at D&D, Mike Mearls and his Dragonlance Project.  He did mention his Death Saves T-Shirt company and I'm f'n pissed never heard of it, just about nothing left, I really wanted that dungeon T-Shirt but nothing in my size.

Safe to say, under the current regime of WotC, Joe will never be hired by Wotc again, he's speaking a very low key truth, but leftards can't take the truth, anything that brings their feces to light, they lose it.  Nothing super suprising, but its nice to listen to an actual D&D fan talk about what they love and not censor themselves.  He goes a lot on writing his DL show, as a heads up.  Still worth watching.  And you don't hear one fucking thing about sensitivity writers, magical skin hires or how much Kyle Brink hates whitey.

+1 bonus points, he even mentioned GURPS.  If you mention GURPS to a WotC employee they will tell you to say "excuse me".

Thanks for posting this. It was a fantastic interview. I respect Joe and his passion for Dragonlance....there's a few of us out there.

Personally, I'm glad that Watzi didn't want DL made. In this current US entertainment culture......please leave good IP's alone.

Best way to piss them off is to not buy their products. Let them drown.

Well he did manage to fuck and marry sophia vegara, I'd say he deserves to be a bit pretentious at times don't you?  I liked the interview because it was a gamer talking publicly about WotC's brand killing behavior and he did it in such a way they can't spin it against him.  He called them out for firing Mearls and doing a 2nd launch of 5E that killed sales.  Its good for that information to see public light.  It makes it easier to get that information to shareholders who will use it against the Hasbro board as their sales continue to collapse.

Yep I agree.  But he also did fuck up and lose her.

Very true, although I disagree with him on 5th edition being the best, even better the Gygax's.

Well hopefully the board will see the idiots they have in the C Suite at Wizards are idiots and get people who actually care about D&D.  We can at least hope.

He got her on the tail end, same thing as Ashton Kucher did.  He'll be upgrading with a 30 year old model.  They have no kids and her eggs have long since dried up.  He'll probably start a family watch.

5E has sold more units than 1E and its easier to teach to new players today and would have been easier than 1E in 1978 to teach.  It's essentially 2E skills and 3E feats, monster stats merged together with spell slots and advantage added in.  Its simply easier to play than 1E, which is why it sold.  You can look at modern OSR's as what 5E was patterned after and how it sold so well.  A better name for 5E would be to call it 2.5E.

That's easy.  Just contradict their stupid bullshit and they will sperg out immediately.

1E had 17 printings by its final release in 1990 (which was a year into 2E). How many printings has 5E had?

You aren't going to know, the difference is 1E wasn't international, it had some, but not to the extent 5E, why?  No internet VTT's to the extent we have now.  5E isn't only printed its digital, most people are playing online more than with a pen and paper.  The game I just GM'd now at the hobby shop used my portable VTT, using my laptop to run my maps and D&D Beyond for my old saved digital content.  Why?  Because I'm already carrying a very large third party paper book and I don't want to carry around 4 large D&D 5E books as well.

I get what you are saying about printings, this isn't about printings its about people who bought the content to use and play.

This is about as close as you'll get for D&D Historical Sales Data, that came from Paul Stromberg who does have access to Gygax's papers through Gygax's widow.  If its to be trusted, then not as much as 5E.  5E has about 5M+ players typically spouted off digital and paper.

Thing is that grodog pointed out that the first 2 years of sales for Holmes Basic and AD&D Monster Manual and Player's Handbook aren't included. Also, we know B/X and the Cyclopedia Rules were translated into multiple languages, including Japanese. I'm not sure I buy the '5E is the best selling version ever' line because its too pat. Its exactly the kind of statement WotC would make to try and downplay how the game grew from its start.

In the 1980s, TSR claimed that six million people worldwide were playing D&D/AD&D. That's just guesswork, of course, because many players probably didn't own any of the books.
