Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Well I'm hoping the new 7th Sea reaches release, ends up being good, and I finally run a successful campaign with it. I also hope Wick delivers on his now-confirmed promise not to inject any weirdness into it.

I also hope the various World of Darkness dramas sort themselves out enough so that I can make a clear choice when I eventually get around to running Werewolf. Or better yet, a solid generic urban fantasy alternative comes out.

I'm looking forward to most anything Sine Nomine puts out.

Simlasa

Hopefully Chaosium's new version of Runequest will come out... and then they can get around to whatever they've got planned that's NOT Glorantha or CoC.

I'm still hoping for Chronicles of Future Earth for RQ6... though that's in doubt now.

The not-Exalted thing from Sin Nomine looks interesting... as well as new stuff coming for Dungeon Crawl Classics.

Brand55

Godbound is easily my #1 most anticipated game, and I have no doubt it will be awesome.

I'm really hoping nothing happens to delay the new Paranoia, and with any luck it'll be as good as the developers seem to think it is.

It would be great if the World of Darkness mess got sorted out and I could get back into it, but I'm not going to hold my breath for that.

My hopes for the hobby in 2016...

Dungeons and Dragons is released as a stand-alone starter boxed set aimed at an all-ages audience that features a streamlined system and setting/characters based on an update of the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon.

A 20th Anniversary Planescape Compendium that reprints all the main sourcebooks and better regarded modules of the setting in one massive hardcover complete with the original DiTerlizzi illustrations and an insert CD reproduction of the Voices of Sigil.

Ditto a 20th Anniversary Dark Sun Compendium with illustrations by Brom.

The OSR is officially declared over and is replaced with the MSR.

SJG releases a CD-Rom boxed set containing pdfs of every GURPs 3rd edition sourcebook.

Chaosium reprints Prince Valiant.

Guardians of Order is brought back to life with a new edition of BESM, and a new series of anime based Roleplaying Game and Sourcebook lines are produced after reprints of the Sailor Moon and Tenchi books, including ones for Full Metal Alchemist, Teppa Toppa Gurenn Lagann, Sword Art Online, and Elfen Lied.

Gareth Michael Skarka is hit by a bus after being successfully sued by the former employees of Adamant Entertainment, and the Buckeroo Banzai license is passed on to a newly-formed West End Games, who also rerelease the original Ghostbusters RPG game as a tie-in with the new film.

Dragon Warriors gets republished, along with the promised sourcebooks that never materialized.

The RPGpundit stops trying to be a political pundit.

A new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is released that goes back to the system/setting of WFRP 1st/2nd edition or uses a variation of the Runequest 6 system.

I finally finish and release my pdf of Phaserip, which inadvertantly makes me rich beyond my wildest dreams, and I never have to work again, just design and run games, paint minis, and doodle mythical creatures. How a free pdf would do this, I've no idea.

I almost put this on my list but couldn't add it since I know it's never gonna happen. :(

I hope that with more and more access to good tools more small press publishers can produce more and better products. I think there is a chance that this year will finally make me a believer in PDFs.

I hope no announcement is forthcoming about a new OGL or anything that affects the license.

The following are mostly tongue-in-cheek...not hopes but predictions. I believe half of them even.

GenCon this year has its last record setting attendance numbers. If they ever recover it will be in another city. Press release numbers will say otherwise but the trend will be obvious this summer from discrepancies between projected vendor sales and actual ones.

Google+ goes dark either by Google pulling the plug or making a change which forces its users to face the inevitable. The RPG community still active therein cries foul and takes their arguments about armor class and alignment to Facebook & Twitter. This lasts about 12 days. Blogger will accept the refugees from the short-lived and half-hearted attempt to learn to use FB and Twitter where much will be lamented about the end of Google+. Thousands of man hours are wasted making posts about the experience, 10 times that reading them.

Nobody wins an argument about armor class or alignment.

OneBookShelf exercises it new policy and pulls a product for a not very convincing reason. Tens of loudmouth fans confront dozens of indigent busybodies. 6 weeks later another product is pulled spuriously by OBS. This time it is one beloved by -now aggrieved- busybodies. Many vows are sworn about making/using/purchasing alternative services. Many business are announced, none sees the light of day in 2016. OBS has a record year making 12% less than they could have had they just ignored the products.

Wizards of the Coast, former WotC employees and Paizo win 90% of the ENnies.

A VR tabletop that is impossible to configure is released for the Oculus Rift. For the 18 groups able to afford to it things will never be the same. The experience is superior to every face to face game ever played but no one wants to believe them, instead the will be accused of being into VR 'just for the porno'.

Kickstarter will try to rescue its reputation by belatedly committing acts of due diligence. This diligence is the result of state attorneys' general threating KS stakeholders with charges of conspiracy. Which are answered in the forms of non-monetary bribes that enrich state general funds and attorneys.

Ken Whitman moves to Mexico.

A handful of D-list celebrities come out of the closet as RPG fans and announce a you tube channel. After 3 uploaded shows they change their focus toa more lucrative subculture or hobby.

Oh, that one goes straight on to my wishlist!

S'mon

My hope/fantasy is that Frog God Games books become available on amazon.co.uk - Basic Fantasy RPG can do it, it can't be *that* hard!

I'm not a 5e fan, but I want to see WotC relaunch Star Frontiers and in exchange for Drasalites and Vrusk, I'll choke down 5e.

Warthur

I kind of hope that James Desborough will fuck off and take his tired-out controversy-baiting, Gamergate shilling and blowhard posturing with him.

It'd also be good if 2016 is the year when Pundit finally decides that he prefers writing his own RPG material to useless sniping at other people's gaming preferences, but that's obviously never going to happen.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

I didn't mind him when he was just making cool indy games online like Neverwhere. It seems like it was his expulsion from TBP that tipped him over the edge. Gamergate seems to be quietly dying down, thank Eris. Even Sargon declared it "over" just a little while back.

Colonial Lovecraft Country and perhaps even Kevin Ross' Old West Cthulhu book from Sixtystone Press get published.

Modiphius ditch 2d20 for their Conan RPG and switch to OpenQuest...?

The label may die, as is natural for these things, but from where I'm watching the anger, skepticism, and ideas are still propagating. Sargon is still reporting on the driving issues without using the name (check his gaming channel).

It's just as well, the highly visible label was a liability.
