Recently there has been a commercial running where the main character is a woman who is adventurous and active - at age 187. Supposedly just because she is tenacious and doesn't like being bored.
Its amusing because I'm thinking of turning her into a pre-gen character or NPC for a future game session.
Anyone else get goofy inspirations to turn minor TV or movie characters into NPCs in your games?

I have had a couple of player character personalities inspired by characters on commercials. Nothing specific, just bits of personality to grab.
I have had a campaign setting inspired by a commerical...

I get there about post 17....
I have like 58 pages of campaign setting notes on this.
Okay, I need more caffine
I reread your post and the last line finally soaked in.

I used TV characters for "stock NPC characters" all the time.
If I have three Firemen or Police guys, they are Curly, Larry, and Moe.
If I have a police detective, he is a guy from a TV show (Columbo shows up in my supers campaigns alot).
I need some highschoolers, I grab the characters from the last highschool TV show or movie I have seen.
I use the people from ER for well.. an ER staff.
I need a mad scientist... W.Coyote , Super Genius, At your service.
Sometimes I twist them around.
Here is the crew of SToS as Pirates....

If you read the article there are lots of ways to spread these around.
I've used
The entire cast of Heartbeat
Tony Blair (He came back as a Zombie)
DCSI Foyle
Boris Johnson (Dogboy)
Peter Mandleson (Bloodsucker)
Lord Alan Sugar (half Goblin Wizkid)
Billie Piper (Chav)
Jimmy Saville (Proto Chav)
The commercial just ran again - so I now have a name for that chartacter : Fastidious Librarian Emily Skinner.
She is shown Hang gliding, riding a motorcycle, and other very adventurous things at various ages.

I have a character in my Legion campaign who is loosely based on Peter Capusotto's Juan Carlos Pelotudo. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsKhygcnDp0&feature=related)
Unfortunately, if you don't speak spanish, the fucking GENIUS of Capusotto's comedy will probably be forever out of your reach.

I found the Ad that inspired this thread !!
Take a look:

Now she makes one really interesting NPC.
Both as an information resource - and maybe a team ally in certain actions. She looks like earned 14 plus college degrees, knows fishing, Hang-sliding and is decent to pretty darn good on a motorcycle .
Oh yeah, she must have one hell of a memory for books and lost tomes of knowledge.
