This is awesome (http://www.sjgames.com/ill/archives.html?y=2008&m=February&d=28)! Fewer books to lug around, espectially to conventions, is huge. I love books and prefer them when I'm just reading, but I hate the big bag of books. Soon I'll be able to trim that by even more.
I can't figure out the pricing. Is it the same for the pdf and you have to buy it again? Is there a bundle deal if you buy it new?
This is tone of the signs of the endtimes - right? (Still need a pregnant Demi Moore thinking about killing herself....)
They said they'd never do this - and I believed them.
I think if you want a spare copy , then you should do it the old fasdhioned - BUY one. Then you take an exacto knife, carefully cut the stitched binding, gently cut/trim the page edges, and slip all the pages into sheet protectors so they sit in a 3-ring binder nicely.

Koltar, you crusty old coot. Get with the text search times! :D

Dude - you're still saying farewell because you still haven't changed your subtitle doo-hicky.
Who is the tech-resistant one??
Yeah - and up until almost a year ago I still used an electric typewriter to make notes for my games....and I'm still using a cassette tape recorder to tape my RPG sessions. (three years worth).
My digital camera uses floppy discs.
(hey - at least I have a digital camera)- Ed C.
They won't put it up until after noon my time (central). Koltar, I don't WANT a three ring binder. I want a nice book to read at my leisure, and a PDF, so as I only carry bits or private access to said bits.
Yes, I'm a Luddite that is too lazy to commit.

I'm not sure it's a "which one" question. :o :haw:
Or maybe I'm just procrastinating about booking out for a while. I should do something about that....

Naw, take your time. I am. Then go with a lovely PDF.

Actually over on the Orange and Friendly
(SJG forums) they just said that the pdfs are normally around $10.00 less than the hardback versions of the books when you use your credit card.
So it will probably be around $24.95

I don't remember them saying never. I thought they said they would try with the non-core books and if it seemed to not cannibalize the dead tree sales they would think about eventually making the core books PDF but only after they'd been on sale for a certain amount of time.
I think it's a great move. A little too cautious perhaps, but at least they are slowly moving forward. This will save DM's a lot of work.
Again, any answer on the pricing?
I answered that - $10.00 less than buying a hardback in the store.

Posted (http://e23.sjgames.com/item.html?id=SJG31-0001) at $29.95. A bit more than I'd like or expected. I'm glad it's there.
Thanks. I had trouble finding it. They should have them both on the same page, with clear delineation between the two.
I'm kind of spoiled because all the pdf's I've purchased have been really cheap (though usually small) or in the case of core books came in a bundle. I got Spirit of the Century both in dead tree and pdf together for the price of the dead tree version alone ($35 I think). And I did this with something else as well, but now I can't remember what.
I think 29.95 might be a bit high for someone interested in the book as a pdf alone.

Most of our books that have both print and PDF versions do, and Characters will as well -- as soon as the webmaster updates the page.
We're all running a bit behind this month.
Cool, thanks for the explanation and no worries. I know you guys keep busy over there. Good luck with your pdf sales!
