This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: The Exploited.;993394Thanks, mate, that was mentioned a bit earlier. I've just picked it up... Lots of great info crammed into it! Actually, I don't really play GURPS, to be honest, but I've bought quite a few of their sourcebooks. I bought some of their steam tech ones for another game I was running and they were invaluable. :)

The 3e GURPS historical and literary sourcebooks don't really need to be used with GURPS.  Most of them are awesome for general-purpose use in any RPG.
LION & DRAGON: Medieval-Authentic OSR Roleplaying is available now! You only THINK you\'ve played \'medieval fantasy\' until you play L&D.

My Blog:  http://therpgpundit.blogspot.com/

Check out my short OSR supplements series; The RPGPundit Presents!

Dark Albion: The Rose War! The OSR fantasy setting of the history that inspired Shakespeare and Martin alike.
Also available in Variant Cover form!
Also, now with the CULTS OF CHAOS cult-generation sourcebook

ARROWS OF INDRA

Both of those books have been on my "To Read" list forever. They're worth reading then are they?

The old RPG and wargames rules set "Hearts of Oak" and "Privateers and Gentlemen" might be helpful for naval combat rules; forces the players to think about the problems of sailing the ship, which will cause them to say 'aargh' more than you might guess.

I'm a big fan of FGU so I try to point people there as it's quite cool how many of their games are still in print and still at low prices. I don't  know if it's still the case, but at one point I was able to buy boxed sets of a few of their games complete with cheap plastic dice! It was a real nostalgia trip back to 1982. If they don't have it in a box or a book, they at least have PDFs of almost everything as well. I think the Privateers & Gentlemen game is compressed into one volume as a book now, but it includes both the RPG books Pomotions & Prizes and Tradition of Valor and the miniatures naval battle rules Heart of Oak.
