Zachary the First was one of the panel members at the GM JAM at gen Con this past weekend. (Or were you the organizer of it, Zach? )
This was the first time I had ever gone to a panel discussion at a game con (ORIGINS or Gen Con)
It was very interesting in several ways. First off, it made me think of all those threads on this and other gaming forums where GMs compare notes and ideas.
Second, the age range of the Gamemasters in the room was interestinmg. The youngest I'm guessing was around 18 or 19, the oldest was maybe in his mid 50s.
Third, at lest 4 or 5 women in there to talk about GM-ing , not because their boyfriend or husband was going to the discussion and they were tagging along.
Zachary and his buddy kept things moving along pretty well.
I noticed that for most of the discussion the default assumption was that everyone in the room was running some version of Dungeons Dragons - implied that 3.5 and 4th edition was considered the norm. One GM pointed out that he was running PATHFINDER. When I made my comment and question - I had to preface it by saying I was referring to a TRAVELLER campaign.
Oh, Zachary I apologize again for leaving. The Exhibitor Hall/Dealer's room was only open another 45 minutes or so and I wanted to stop in there before leaving town. Also, my lack of sleep and lack of caffeine was catching up with me. With my leg aches and sleep issues , it was a better idea to get vertical and moving around again.
Very Good Panel.
Next year if I get two days or more at Gen Con I'll have to make sure I'm chipper and ready for it.

There were several parts of the discussion where I thought the real propblem the GM was having was that they were running 4th/e D&D.
I'm sorry i missed it. I had a hackmaster game in that time slot though.
Not a problem. I'm just happy you & Gamedaddy showed up! I hope you found some good things in the hall.
We'll be back for our 2011 GM's Jam--everyone seemed to have a good time this year, and I will make sure to load up the panel again. It was another pretty full room, which made me feel pretty good!
EDIT: Yes, I was the organizer, too!

Was it supposed to be focused just on
D&D versions , FANTASY / SWORD & Sorcery / Pathfinder?
At times I felt like the only GM in the room who wasn't doing Fantasy .

Nope. Fantasy is just the most popular genre, I guess.
