This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Akrasia;348504All of the 'Gazetteers' are set in Mystara, and all are for D&D (not AD&D).

There are rules for adapting the Gazs to AD&D in some of the later ones (Darokin, for example). Nothing that one couldn't came up with by himself.

It was fun to read how "the differences between the two games are small enough to allow this", whereas the party line had always been "What is for D&D is not for AD&D". I remember wondering what caused this change in marketing.
For every idiot who denounces Ayn Rand as "intellectualism" there is an excellent DM who creates a "Bioshock" adventure.

Some D&D players are just awesome.

You are going to start a campaign based on the items in your haul - aren't you?

Awesome find man. I keep looking for another big haul.  Seems they are still out there.  :)

Chaotic Lawyer and Shit-Stirrer

JRients:   "Joe the Lawyer is a known shit-stirrer. He stirred the shit. He got banned. Asking what he did to stir the shit introduces unnecessary complication to the scenario, therefore he was banned for stirring the shit."

Quote from: Grimjack;348595That would have been a crime to throw all that out.  Awesome indeed.  I wonder if she was the player or someone else in the family.
It's her, but her group stopped using books years ago and now just free-forms with a d20.  She's moving house and didn't want to take the books, but didn't have the time to Ebay them either, so she put up an A4 sign in a shop window  in the hope someone would spot it before she threw them out.

My master plan is finish our Pathfinder campaign early next year, then bash some B-modules with Swords & Wizardry to see if the system's a good fit.

Plenty of those maps need little or NO conversion to use with Pathfinder.

Still sounds like you got a deal and a half.

Soylent Green

"Orcs of Thar" remains the only fantasy campaign I've run to date. I have very fond memories of it, we had a lot of crazy fun. But to be honest other than the character generation rules for monster races I'm not sure how much I actual use I got from the book itself.
New! Cyberblues City - like cyberpunk, only more mellow. Free, fully illustrated roleplaying game based on the Fudge system
Bounty Hunters of the Atomic Wastelands, a post-apocalyptic western game based on Fate. It\'s simple, it\'s free and it\'s in colour!

I'm very happy with all the maps.  Much of my older gear is used, and many of the maps are gone or crumbling.  I'm looking forward to running more overland, take-and-hold adventures now.
