Title: Forgotten Futures - Planets of Peril?
Post by: Molotov on December 24, 2013, 04:28:42 PM
Howdy All,

My wandering interest got hooked by Forgotten Futures (again), this time with the atomic-age-ish volume XI: Planets of Peril. Based on the 1930s science fiction writings of Stanley Weinbaum, Marcus Rowlands' latest (c. 2010) FF volume covers solar system background, ship design, and provides some pregens for a tour of the inner system via League of Nations Patrol.

I had the file printed at my local copy shop - set me back ~ $15 (US) plus I dropped a few more bucks to have the separate decks plans (color) prints for the HMSS Endeavour - the British provided rocket ship for the campaign. The whole printed set ran me a mere $22.

Has anyone played around with FF, or volume XI in specific? Any experiences, ideas or comments? I know there's some Forgotten Futures fans around here from prior (old) thread ... ;)

Many thanks!

I haven't looked much at that volume, but I generally think Forgotten Futures is cool. It's more the kind of thing I had in mind when Space 1889 came out, although I also like that. I saw some early FF books in a games shop, and was delighted years later to find the website.

I'm fairly new to volume XI; I had picked up the Heliograph print of the rules sometime before 2000, as I recall.

The materials, laid out (lighting is a bit dark in my kitchen) ...:
