For those who have not seen it on other sites. FFG is having a sale (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/5dsale2007.html).
It would be interesting to hear TheRPGSite's take on the products listed, FFG, or the sale itself.

It's an awesome deal. I got a ton of Blue Planet and D&D stuff last time they had the sale. I got a really heavy box in the mail and had a blast open it and going through it's contents...

Cheers, this is sweet!
I shall use 50 of my English pennies on an 'Instant Adventure' and use it with FtA!
OOH spellslinger !
C'mon people - buy loads of Blue Planet stuff that you'll never play !
Thanks for bringing this up! There's some very good stuff in there, like Midnight and Blue Planet.
Has anyone tried any of the wargames?

Spellslinger is awesome. We played it here with Pundit, and had a great time.

I got the two core books last year, and still haven't found time to run it. Don't tempt me to get the other books... :D
Hm, quite a bit of Dawnforge, Fireborn, Dragonstar, and Legends and Lair stuff showed up at my local Half Price Books recently. This is probably a better deal...if I wanted any of that stuff.
Redline sounds interesting.
i've picked up the 4 supplements for BP in a previous sale. looks like this may be the time to get the rulebooks (i have blue planet 1e already). possibly midnight as well
I've been buying from their $5 sales, for the past two years. FFG has always been prompt with the orders, the books are packed well and I generaly think they're a class act. So far it's all BP stuff I've bought - just not I picked up the last two BP books, and toward the end of the season I'm debating picking up spare copies of the core books or possibly some of the other non-RP games that they have.
Its crazy, but just like last year this sale has highlited just how little I care about FFG's books. All the really good ones (the Midnight corebook, Portals and Planes, Redline, Spellslinger) I have. The rest I couldn't possibly want, even for $5.
Also it doesn't help that basically the sale is for the exact same items as last year, because FFG hasn't released anything new for RPGs in a year..

What, no love for Blue Planet? Of course it's Biohazard Games and not d20, but it's one of the best science fiction games out.

And not, I believe, on sale. :P
RPGs aside, has anyone played any of their collectible disk games? At the prices they're at, I could afford to grab enough to get my gaming group going with them; are they worth it?

They were all the rage after a few cons a couple years ago, and then everyone promptly stopped caring. Couldn't say personally, but the fact that they sort of dropped off the map that quickly usually isn't a good sign.

Bah. What the fuck can you do with it?!

Anything you can do with any other science fiction rpg? That's kind of a silly question, the setting is bursting at the seams with possibilities. I could run anything from a cyberpunky corporate espionage campaign to a military campaign to law enforcement to scientists unraveling the secrets of the Aborigines...

To quote Balbinus I believe it was: "I don't want to do anything, I want to do something."
If I wanted to do "anything", I'd just pick up GURPS and be done with it.

So, you pick something you want to do, and do it. This shit ain't difficult. The basic conflict in the setting - the Natives vs. the Incorporates vs. the Aborigines - is very plainly laid out.

Traveller.
Quote from: JongWKTraveller.
Besides having at least three default structured campaign concepts behind it (military, trader, traveller); Traveller has the added benefit that I can get the fuck off the planet. I just don't care for high-tech sci-fi RPGs where you're basically stuck on one world.

Then it's a matter of personal taste, rather than not being able to do anything with a game. Me? I'll have any of them, provided that both the GM and the group rocks. :)
