This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm not sure what's wrong with it, but as I mentioned on my blog, it seems like the ENnies tastes and my tastes continue to diverge. I don't even know enough about most of the entries to tell you. Did you have something in particular in mind?

I did really like Stars Without Number, which was a great campaign for us.
RPG Blog 2

Currently Prepping: Castles & Crusades
Currently Reading/Brainstorming: Mythras
Currently Revisiting: Napoleonic/Age of Sail in Space

Soylent Green

Icons got nominated as best game, best rules and best new game so I see nothing wrong with the list.
New! Cyberblues City - like cyberpunk, only more mellow. Free, fully illustrated roleplaying game based on the Fudge system
Bounty Hunters of the Atomic Wastelands, a post-apocalyptic western game based on Fate. It\'s simple, it\'s free and it\'s in colour!

That's true. Icons is pretty awesome.

...Am I understanding the nomination list correctly, and Vornheim is _not_ a nominee for best game aid / accessory, but a pack of fucking dungeon tiles for 4e is?

What the fuck?
Running
The Pernicious Light, or The Wreckers of Sword Island;
A Goblin\'s Progress, or Of Cannons and Canons;
An Oration on the Dignity of Tash, or On the Elves and Their Lies
All for S&W Complete
Playing: Dark Heresy, WFRP 2e

"Elves don\'t want you cutting down trees but they sell wood items, they don\'t care about the forests, they\'\'re the fuckin\' wood mafia." -Anonymous

Also, the Laundry, another tedious "dark horror in the modern day!" game based on an overhyped and underperforming media property is up for best new game, but Stars Without Number isn't?

They oughta call these the Shitties.

Also Dresden Files isnt exactly worthy of being nominated in nearly all the categories and im really not sure how The Escapist counts as a good rpg site beyond the fact they have a regular blog abour rpg's amongst the usual videogame related stuff.

I'm not sure The Laundry counts as dark. I think it's more of a horror Men in Black style comedy with a very British twist. Unfortunately having managed to get in a Laundry game we only got as far as the character creation session before the game evaporated otherwise I could tell you more about it.

Shame, as I was looking forward to playing it. There really aren't enough sophisticated comedy games out there.

I am rather bothered by the fact it looks more and more like an Origins list, than an Ennies one. Nothing terribly overt beyond Stars Without Number being merely an honorable mention. Other than a handful of games it feels very much like a "Hey, this looks like this is selling well!" list. (Let me say there isn't anything wrong with such a list, I just thought the Ennies were aimed elsewhere, that's all.) Knowing that I will unlikely be on any such list though, means my opinions are kinda moot.
High Valor REVISED: A fantasy Dark Age RPG. Available NOW!
Hearts & Souls 2E Coming in 2019

Caesar Slaad

Not seeing any terrible omissions or inclusions. And yes, I include SWN there. Got it, read it: meh.

The only thing I question is the existence of a blog category and to a lesser extent, a new game category.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

LOL SO fucking right on both counts. Seriously.

Add: D&D Rules Compendium for best rules, but NOT Gamma World. Riiiiight.

The escapist != the escapist magazine.  The former is a ttrpg site exclusively.  The latter is a so-so semi-popular site for gaming with a hardline trad rpg dude as their founder, which is the only reason it has the ttrpg articles in the first place.
"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."

Phantom Black

Laughable.
Ironic, how the Battletech 25th Year Anniversary Introductory Box is nominated in the "Best RPG Related Product"(sic! sic! sic!) among craptastic stuff like "Hamlet's Hit Points" and "The Bones – Us and Our Dice"...
But they even manage to top that one of with:
"Honorable Mention: Shadowrun: Sixth World Almanac"
Yeah, RIGHT, because some of the technically worst and shoddily done maps one might get for Shadowrun are straight from Google E....eeerrrr... i mean, straight from this book!
Rynu-Safe via /r/rpg/ :
Quote"I played Dungeon World once, and it was bad. I didn\'t understood what was happening and neither they seemed to care, but it looked like they were happy to say "you\'re doing good, go on!"

My character sheet was inexistant, and when I hastly made one the GM didn\'t care to have a look at it."

I thought the ENnies would support Vornheim more. I am glad they have Icons listed several times.

It does feel like FATE is the game of choice for ENnies judges, this year.
