Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). [Eldritch Skies] Planning a one shot

So I'm considering running a one shot of Eldritch Skies, a game where Lovecraft's Mythos is presented more as sci-fi than purely horror. I have 3 basic ideas in mind, and was hoping to get feedback from others who have run the game (maybe even from John Snead, the author, if I'm lucky).

Here's what I've got so far:

1) OPS investigates strange goings on at a facility where some of the staff, etc have aquatic augmentation. Unknown to OPS (and most of the facility staff) is that a group of Deep Ones migrated to the planet, and they want to expand their numbers by mating with the augmented humans. This one is the weakest of the 3 right now, and really would need revising (How did the Deep Ones get there en masse, what is the facility for that people have Aquatic augments, seeing as how it's not typically legal in most countries, etc)

2) Excavating ruins on a recently discovered world leads to the discover of a tribe of degenerate Serpent Men. How did they get here, and are the ruins theirs, or some other race? This one would likely not have all characters be OPS agents (I was thinking today they could be a corporate sponsored exploration team, or one from a country). I was thinking here I'd use Yig as the Hyperspatial entity the Serpent People worship, and maybe have some with mutations.

3) OPS agents are being brutally murdered. traces of Hyperspatial energy/beings are found at the scene of each murder. The only connection the victims had besides working for OPS was having worked on an investigation 5 years back on a cult connected to Nyarlathotep. All the members of that cult are either dead or imprisoned. so OPS needs to find out what is killing the agents, and who is controlling it (as well as what it is).

This one is based on an idea that I think I saw suggested on a forum. That idea had some magician using Dimensional Shamblers as assassins. Shamblers aren't featured in the core rules, but should be easy to adapt (if they aren't in that unofficial Mythos book Jason Vey & Maijin Gora did a few years back)

Right now, #2 is the one I'm leaning towards most, as it is fairly simple/straightforward, so there isn't as much that would complicate it (given that it will be run in a four hour period, minus some break time).

Anyone have thoughts on any of these, or suggestions for fleshing them out?

How about #2 with most pc's being corporate with only one of them an OPS agent?

Not sure I want anyone playing an OPS agent. I was leaning more towards a character with military experience, but who is either corporate or national security for whomever is backing the dig.

After the feedback I've gotten, I'm pretty sure I'll be using option 2. Just need to flesh it out some, and work out character concepts.

I'm thinking 5 characters, with one being the aforementioned security officer, a xeno-archaeologist, a xeno-biologist (to study local flora/fauna), maybe a psychic, and one other
