I noticed a British RPG thread the other day. It got me thinking about existing British (and European) RPGs. Is anyone playing the following:
1. Dragon Warriors (new or old version)
2. Fighting Fantasy (regular or advanced)
3. Maelstrom
4. Squadron UK/Golden Heroes
5. The Dark Eye
6. Agone
I played DW a few times earlier in the year.
You've left out WFRP, although i guess it's fair enough not to think of it as British anymore.
I think the Dark Eye is a translation of a German game.
Isnt agone french?

Yeah, after 1E, I think it's changed.

Notice, I wrote "and European."
I've played Agone. (But I'm an American.)

How much different is the Mongoose version of Dragon Warriors, from the original 1980's books?
I own Maelstrom (the Puffin Book.) I used to own Sorcery! (Steve Jackson, that one--is British IIRC) I'd like to pick up Fighting Fantasy, at some point.
Yet actually play them? I'm not sure I ever will. I'm the primary GM in my group these days, and while I like those games, I like a LOT of games, and often just end up running my own.
Treasure RPG is 100% made in Scotland. At this time of year we'd much rather it was made in Hawaii or California but that's life.

Almost the exact same, except in a different format.

formatted very differently.
Rules are clarified, but not really changed.
Big Pretty Books.

How was your experience with it?
There have been some minor changes to balance professions, info has been re-organised, all the adventures have extra material either to provide background, flesh-out scenarios or explain setting conceits.
For further info:
Magnum Opus Press, ie. James Wallis and co. (the publishers) (http://www.magnumopuspress.com/?page_id=10)
And lots of further material on the Wiki. (http://dragonwarriors.wetpaint.com/)
I have played many of these games. Not currently playing any.

The first game I played of it was a PBEM. As I've hinted elsewhere, I don't really believe PBEM's are representational when it comes to the mechanics in play of a game. They're so...different.
But we did play a three session face-to-face Agone game. I don't remember much, but I do remember thinking that at least the combat mechanics were clunky and...blocky.
That said, I'd pay handsomely for more material in English as I adore the game.
