This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hi Mark,

It was nice meeting you this weekend. It was fun to be able to give your game some serious attention at that panel. As it turned out, somehow the panel got split. So there was another one going on in the room around the corner that we completely missed.

Maybe next time we can get a game in.

Anyway, you might have a friendlier internet reception at:
http://www.nerdnyc.com
http://www.story-games.com
http://www.indie-rpgs.com
http://www.rpg.net

Much less knuckle-dragging and mouth breathing. You'll probably be able to post on those forums without people cursing at you or accusing you of being a crypto-missionary freak in their delusional war.

And Pundie, trust me, it's purely the size of my massive cock that gets me ahead in life. I could be a freaking burn victim and they'd still come flocking to this. I can send you some personal pictures if you want. Just give me an email.

I certainly wouldn't call Luke a vanity publisher, he's obviously worked very hard to promote BW, as have a handful of other guys from the Forge. -- The RPG Pundit

Anyone else find it odd that VBWyrde first posts an advertisement for his Yahoo Groups site here on 10/19/06 and then makes a post claiming to be his first post on 7/15/07 here, and now this thread?

Obviously, being snarked at on RPGnet has embolded the unwashed masses out there...

EDIT: Man, after luke just showed his ass, there's nothing I could post to compare.
"Meh."

On a slightly more serious note: I feel much more attractive and normal after looking at those pictures.

Quote from: VBWyrdeThe Indie crowd has an enormous amount of live and crackling creative energy, talent and drive.

It is not a first time I hear this, but have you got actually any prove of this. There are thousands (literally) of published accessories to D&D/d20/whatever compared with few indie games.

Quote from: VBWyrdeThey also have the wherewithal to take their concepts to market (which in and of itself can be a LOT of work), and have the guts to take risks and ask the hard questions on game design.

Really? Or is this a false dichotomy and not very well hidden elitist proclamation? What are these hard questions on game design? Something like, what should I do to be better than you guys? Or a different one?

Quote from: VBWyrdeIt's a wild and woolly bunch, as one would expect, but the collaborative excitement is palpable, and in my case contagious.  I came away feeling that this is a great bunch of guys who are really bright and would be a heck of a lot of fun to collaborate with.

Quite common feeling in any kind of sect, but anyway...

Quote from: VBWyrdeAnd yes, brain damage is just part of the process.

Holly cow... sure, you must be braindamaged naturally slow learner to believe that above.

Quote from: VBWyrdeCase in point,  Luke "the cannon" Crane and the gang came at me pretty hard on my game during the Game Design Panel, and really blasted me with some excellent and difficult questions.

Such as... have you ever contemplate of the RPG god? Oh, no wait. It should be like... have you ever had a feeling, that your game was not entertaining? That you want something more? Something better? Have you ever heard about the free, cool and in new "hype" RPG theory. Yeah, sure, we are RPG scientists, would you like to be one too. Because we are giving diplomas for free... just for joining...

Quote from: VBWyrdeBut I think it really helped me to think about and clarify my goals, and the purpose of my game... at least into words that I could write down and throw into my next set of docs and keep in mind as I move forward.  So overall I say, "Give brain damage a chance".

Yes? I will tell you one basic law of a game. Not just RPG, but simply any game. The games are about fun. Fun of all the participants in the game. Watch the children playing and learn. Or even better... play RPG with some kids. And learn what is the bright and shiny fun of the moment. The one, that was rub out of your head with a brain damaged.

I have seen so many people acutally brain damaged with the "indies bullshit" ... Indies are the only creative and innovative (oh yeah, they actually steal from less know traditional games, but that should not be mentioned). But the worst of the worse... too much of thinking about gaming will steal you your fun. And it will pretty much steal the fun of the oter participants in your game as well... I've learned that a hard way... yes, it is funny to be in sect, but it is hardly the same good old gaming fun of a child.

I've been making some Gamecon games for children recently, and that really returned me to the reality. It is not a design, not even a story... it is the moment, one bright moment in the game and the reaction of the players with will turn your and their endorphins high and shine the whole game with FUN!

End of transmission.

Hey Luke!

Thanks for the air drop.  Very cool to meet you too, and thanks for "The Hammering" - I actually appreciated it.  I'll see ya over there.   I'm a little surprised at the reception here, I must admit.  No, better make that 'very suprised'.  Thanks for the links.  :)

PS - Some of you guys seem a bit out of control with the paranoia thing, and vitriol.   I did not walk in here an Indie Convert or Stealth-Evangelist.  I actually came in looking for information.  There's little in the way of information, but lots in the way of absurd accusations.  Its nice, but not my thing.   Thanks just the same.
