Title: D&D Tabletop cleared $3M last quarter
Post by: honeydipperdavid on November 01, 2023, 06:10:35 PM
Towards the beginning third of the video they go over the financials of Hasbro.  Their pandering to the Seattle demographics has really paid off for them /s.  All they have to do is go back to the 3.5E module content, and they can sell content well put together and that works that people will buy.  The Red Hand of Doom was such a well put together module, instead we get Witchlight or Stryx and DM's are scratching their heads.  A crappy carnival or prom, really D&D you guys are writing that?  D&D Beyond is where they are going.  The problem is that people are introduced at the game at hobby shops.  They can go online, but what they get for groups, you'll see people quit.

I get so much more content to run using older content updated to run.  I'm doing Keep on the Borderlands and the guys are chomping at the bit at the hobby shop.

I for one am looking for a good popcorn popper to buy for the next years quarterly results.

If WOTC cared about D&D being the best tabletop face to face RPG it could be, it would show in their product releases.  However, it does not.  They are a strange company.

One thing I've noticed is there are a lot of requests for in home game play over in a hobby shop.  Its going to be interesting to see how things pan out for WotC.  I use a digital tabletop for hobby shop play with a large portable monitor.  Its a great way to meet new people in your area.  In my opinion going all in on digital and putting a fee on the players to use it, its going to tits up.

Hasbro owes almost as much as their market cap?

IF the numbers are correct then WotKKK better pray their digital bet goes the way they think it will.

Are you running the original Keep on the Borderlands module with 5e?

Yup.  I added in some ideas from Prof Dungeonmaster, he goes over his take on the module and adds in some extra NPC's.

It's tabletop so just paper books.  I wasn't paying attention to D&D Digital values, I figured BG3 would obscure the true digital from D&Dbeyond sales figures for WotC.
