This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Are these still pretty popular?

I'm interested in getting the rules but don't know where. Seems that they're mostly available in England. They seem to be a pretty good ruleset by many accounts.

What are other fun miniatures battle/army rules that play fast and aren't wedded to particular company product lines? What's the 'state of the art' in this area?

They are "big" in Berlin, one FLGS staffer is in the National Team.
That said, this particular [historical minis, 15mm] hobby is pretty much an ultra niche in Germany. But within it´s niche, DBA/DBM is used as a rules set.

I tried finding a copy of DBA, but now luck. It sounds like the rules play fast (games take an hour) and don't require many minis. I've always liked history, and it seemed like a good way to get into historical minis.

If you have any luck finding a copy, post an update.

I know the official competitions tend to be 15mm but you can use them with any size minis, which is good, because it's 25 or bust for me.

They have 25mm battles based on DBA at the store, too. But they still are sorted in elements, not individually.

Actually, it's a snap. Wargames Research Group has a store here:

where you can buy DBA, DBM, etc. on buy-it-nows and pay with paypal.

Enjoy!

I've purchased DBA and DBM in a store before.  It was a few years ago (2003, 2004?)at a store in a suburb of Kansas City (Tabletop Games or something like that, in Overland Park, I think).

I also tried the main competitor to DBA, Armati, but that I had to buy over eBay.
