Title: Dark Sun: Best Setting Supplements
Post by: crkrueger on August 21, 2012, 04:28:20 AM
Assume the following: I will not be using any TSR or WotC system for Dark Sun, but will be using RQ6 instead.

So all system stuff aside, what DS supplements or adventures for any edition were the coolest, best, most inspiring, whathaveyou.

The original Wanderer's Journal. That book sets the tone for me with Dark Sun. The 3.x Dark Sun material published in Dungeon and Dragon magazine while they were run by Paizo - good stuff. Finally, pick up used & cheap, a copy of the D&D 4E Dark Sun Campaign Setting book because the artwork and fluff text are worth it.

If you look at any of the novels for Dark Sun, avoid them all except for the ones written by Lynn Abbey because everything else is pure shit.

I second what Jeff says. I have used old dark sun books quite a lot when running dark sun with the Hero system, and Rolemaster.
