This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

The art's pretty good, but they look uncomfortably like mid-nineties gamers to me.
Looking for your old-school fantasy roleplaying fix? Don't despair...Fight On!

Really? Mine were also kinda pasty, but they weren't so ripped.

Anyway,

Thanks for posting these pics Erik. IMO they have really got the look right. I was a bit worried because I assumed only GW artist could do the setting justice...obviously I was wrong :D

You mean, because it's coming out in three installments? I think it's a brilliant plan, and I wish it had been applied to WFRP2E.

What don't you like about it?

The order of release? The fact that it's three games? The focus on the Imperium?

I'm stoked. I'm waiting to see the rules demo before I decide if 40KRP's going to disappoint. This batch of images makes me think that I might devote my next 20 years of gaming to it.

I think it's an idea as stupid as it is unnecessary as it is commercial. There is no need for it at all.

The fact that it's three games. I'll still check them out when they hit the stores, but I'm no longer wanting to pre-order it.

Maybe the fact that they're swindling you with three crippled half-games that try to force you to play the way the designers think you should instead of one complete one where you can play however the fuck you want?

I honestly don't mind three different books focusing on different aspects of the setting. It was something I was going to do in my homebrew anyway.

If you don't like the approach that's being taken, given BI's resources* how would you go about developing a 40K RPG?

*Maybe this means, "given Green Ronin."

That seems like a rather silly way to frame the question, given that it would consume far less resources to produce a single complete hardback like they have already done just fine with WFRP.
Bedroom Wall Press - Games that make you feel like a kid again.

Yup, that's exactly it, my solution, radical as it may sound to some, would have been to have made a single complete RPG.

A single complete rpg and sourcebooks, right? It seems to me that there's a lot of ground to cover. Of course when they do finally publish all the books and the pertinent info from all three could be fit in one rpg book - then of course it's online bitching time.
