This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Did anyone try this golden oldie? The art seems a bit lacking, but I have heard some gamers calling it the best pirate game ever.

I'm ashamed to admit I've never even heard of it. Is a copy available for download anywhere? If not, any chance you could tell us a little bit more about it?

Swashbucklering is one of my favourite storytelling styles, and I always assume pirate-centric games make at least a half-hearted nod towards emulating that; I'd be interested in hearing how this game does, if it does.

I've not played Crimson Cutlass, but I've played a few of the other games in this series.  Well, the versions that were originally released in the Space Gamer ( https://spacegamer.com/default.aspx )
magazines anyway.  I remember thinking that it wasn't very complete, but that the underlying systems had some some interesting ideas.  I wish I could tell you more, but it's been far too long since I gave it a go and I just can't remember any of the finer details.

I'm getting a hard copy. I'll probably have some initial thoughts over the weekend. Stay tuned....

There is a Youtube channel that covers the various games in the Better Games lineup, including Crimson Cutlass.  It can be found here;
