This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Here is a link.

nWoD is going through a brand name change.  Instead of nWoD it will now be called CoD.  Think on that a bit.

They trying to put a Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Ultra on us?

If it ends the pud-fuckingly stupid naming conventions of the last line it can only be positive.

Consumer, "which book do I need? 'the long dark ally way of tormented souls' or 'staring longingly at rocky Atlantic coasts and contemplating mortality' "

it won't end the naming conventions, just change them.

From what I've seen in Beast, there's some pretty cool stuff in the new edition.

I'm glad they support it, I was worried the old world of Darkness would completely take over.  I very much prefer the new edition, and this second edition of nWoD looks neato!

When products are going to change hands, or have recently changed hands, or there is clearly some changes happening in the owning company, I step back, wait and see - especially if what I have is working.  I feel the same way about the Runequest weirdness.

I've kinda hit a serious meh about it all. It not being called World of Darkness will make WOD nutters less likely to care about it.

Beast makes me want to run a Vampire game where the players are Vampirethings (built using Beast rules with the Dark Mother fluff ripped out) that don't care about your stupid Vampire hierarchy because they aren't standard Vampires (for certain values of standard Vampires).

As to changing the name...good. New World of Darkness was kind of meh, as a name.

I just picked up CoD and DtD in PDF. I'm going to give them a read and see what's inside.

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Mordred Pendragon

I don't mind the name change, though I am still sticking to my 1e nWoD books, as I was a little disappointed by 2e's material with the God-Machine and the over-exposure of the Strix in Vampire. Beast doesn't look good either. Hopefully Deviant and Changeling 2e will be better than the 2e nWoD material I have seen so far.

Sounds like bog standard marketing to me "Interest in our brand is a bit lower, rebrand it"

Snowman0147

More like a command from a new owner.  I wouldn't be surprise that paradox just gives CoD to them and cut their ties to them.

So far it reads well. The stories have been intriguing which sets the mood. I have only scratched the surface however.

Some of the stuff that one might consider "fluffy bunny story now please" stuff is actually codified and well explained. It's more like actual game mechanics that help support the genre vs. "ephemeral figure it our yourself" territory. I'm pleasantly impressed at the moment. Of course, I just started reading.
