This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Has anyone ever done a scenario database?

I sat down the other day and started one:

A01:  Kinunir  - year 1105, takes place on Regina, Knorbes, Pixie, and Shionthy in the Spinward Marches.

D01:  ANNIC NOVA takes place on Keng...

Then I wondered, "In four decades nobody has done this?  Am I re-inventing the wheel?"

I spent most of the day there, thanks.  I got lots of stuff, but not a database. :(

Edit: If that reads wrong, I meant thank you for posting the link, not thanks for a wasted link.

Not necessarily the database you're looking for, but I've been reading all my Traveller material looking for useful stuff for my campaign:

Of course the commentary is biased by my interest in a non-Third Imperium OTU setting...

And it gets better

Spinward Marches

I thought playing The Imperial Fringe campaign solo might be fun:  For reasons of plot, the patron drops a motherlode assignment on the player(s):  "Take a 100 ton scout and confirm the UPPs of every system in the Spinward Marches."  After going to the Traveller wiki, I have the necessary info.  I can pick and choose which write ups and background I like.

Note quite, but cool, dl'd.*  I also prefer non 3rd Imperium.  I agree with Dumerest that the original far frontier "setting" was better.  I thought about using Spinward Marches as a background, and just tying in the scenarios set there - or anywhere else - but IMO Spinward has too much background/baggage.

I have a problem with the Amber Zone scenario "Foodrunner".  The patron has a 40 million credit deal - riding on a defective rust bucket that will almost certainly misjump sometime between getting to Roup and back. Bad investment, really bad.  Get the thing fixed, hire a pilot, and go to Roup yourself!

Any suggestions for improving that scenario?

Confirming the UPPs would be a cool mission especially if a lot of the information is inaccurate or outdated, which would make sense given the speed of communication is equal to the fastest available ship and you'd assume the ship doesn't make a dedicated trip to one system and then home but rather probably stops at numerous systems en route, all of which would add to how long the round trip takes and increases the time between data gathering and data compilation, which means the data is surely old by the time it gets back home! Sounds fun.

The Imperial Scout Service agrees with you. ;)

Google Traveller & "The Imperial Fringe" and you can find out more.  (I'm on a metered site right now, so I don't know what the youtube video is, for example).

Basically here's the plot:  Our Hero(es) are in a bar wondering where their next meal is coming from.  One of them must be a scout with a ship (optionally, a merchant crew will work), when a fight breaks out between some rowdies and some scouts.  Well, which side do you think you're going to help?  Afterwards, everybody is all buddy-buddy let's drink up!  One of the scouts gives you a card and says come by my office tomorrow, I think I have just the job for you.

They show up at said office, and this guy is THE High Pooba of the Sector for the Scouts.  He explains that every twenty years, the Scouts commission a grand survey of each sector, and this sector's time just came up.  They pay Cr50,000 for every detailed report (the players don't have to do a detailed report, but the Scout character does) turned in, with a Cr440,000 bonus if done within twenty years.  So assuming the travellers aren't idiots, they have fifty two months to survey forty four worlds.  They can skip the Red Zones (but the Scouts will pay double for those, under the table).

The Starport check is fairly simple (Class B or Class A?), and so are the physical characteristics.  The inhabitant part is trickier, Our Heroes have to go out and investigate the government, tech level etc.  And yes, there are numerous credibility gaps. ;)

OK, I'm off by a factor of ten, there are about four hundred systems (can't find an exact number - don't worry, somebody will! ;) ), but that means the bonus is four million.  And it's going to be really tight, even if you skip the twenty six Red Zones.

*sigh*
How about five hundred twenty fortnights to cover four hundred forty systems?

I have saved a PDF copy of the Traveller Integrated Timeline by Don McKinney. I think that is what you are looking for.

Unfortunately, it is a 1.1MB size file and I can't post it here. If you message me your email address, I will send it to you. The original host site has expired with the death of the author.
"Meh."

Thanks.  More when I'm less groggy.

Thanks.  I really like the notes columns.  Ship, map, & items is an interesting addition to the database.

Thank you very much.  I found it in my download folder.  That file will be a big help.  I'm going to try to do a database sorted by scenario rather than year.   If I do, I think I'll start small and just do Spinward Marches for a start.
