This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

This came up in another thread. I would dearly like to able to best tbone in introducing it, but I can't so I'll let tbone do it.

Has anyone tried it? Whether or not you have tried it, what do you think?

Well, I just downloaded it.  I haven't yet read it.  Looks cool, though.

I think it's too much.  16 or 32 pages would serve the purpose better.

I like it. I run the occasional "Introduction to Fantasy Role-Playing" session at my local library, using GURPS Lite 3e, Caverns & Creatures and an adventure of my own creation. It seems to work out pretty well. The players get to keep the GURPS Lite and C&C booklets for their own campaigns.

If a version of this can be made compatible with 4th edition GURPS easily - then color me interested.

This is what a really cool FANTASY RPG should be like :

Su-wipe! :hehe:

Thanks for the heads-up on this.  I haven't made the transition from 3rd to 4th Edition yet (primarily because of how much the 4th Ed books cost), and I think my old gaming group might be interested in giving this a go at some point.  It's a nice package, I think, and it looks like a great way of introducing a D&D-style game to GURPS.

I realize that a big part of the point was to emulate D&D, but I have to say that I still prefer the GURPS Magic way of doing spells - a sort of logical progression of learning essential concepts (Create Fire, etc.) before moving on to more complex and powerful spells (Fireball).  The booklet says the two aren't compatible; I'll trust him for now, though I know I'll be looking for a way to adapt it.

Working on it...but it's one of my "back-burner" projects right now.

I downloaded it and will read it eagerly. D&D has been the "default" fantasy game in my group for a long time, but we use GURPS for most everything else. I'll be interested to see how this compares. If nothing else, it'd make introducing wonky "ancient magic items" much easier. :)
