This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The person running this website is a racist who publicly advocates genocidal practices.

I am deleting my content.

I recommend you do the same.

Can''t see how Psionics is tacked on in DS, loads of the monsters and races are based around it, magic is set up in relation to it and it is central to the history/setting.

It's not bad, but it's kinda unoriginal for a setting that is considered oh so original.
It's like talking to a guy that wants you to know about this new setting he made: there's Suaron the black lord that made this ring, the ring got lost and found by the fallen middling Gallum...

As I said YMMV

The right answer is Tekúmel.

Also Zothique, Dune, Barsoom, Carcosa, DEN , etc.

Quote from: finarvyn;978046I think that the "problem" that most players have with Dark Sun is that it is designed to kill you. The desert is out to get you, the creatures are badass, the world can be a really grim place and many players don't like that. I had similar issues with players and Ravenloft; they liked the concept of a vampire setting but the reality sucked for them because it was so grim all of the time.

I have never carefully read the rules, so I honestly do not know if the rules support this situation or not. But I have read the world overview and such and my impression is, "Given the external survival pressures, the infighting, and all the rest, it is not realistic that the PC races/civilizations exist  in its present form in this situation." Eaten by elves, starved, dies of thirst, broken into subsistence-based settlements, I don't know. Whether it is too hard to be a PC given the monsters and opponents in the setting, I don't know.

Very nice of you to say, kind sir! Humble in victory and graceful in defeat, I see! :D
