For me, a mini-campaign would be 6-12 sessions. So what games are particularly good for more than a one shot, but maybe less than a full blown years-long campaign?
Particularly games you might run as a breather between one superhero campaign and another?

Warhammer FRP played with random characters.

Most horror games would work. I prefer short horror games to long ones.
Call of Cthulhu is perfect for this.
A short Rifts campaign with a definite objective would work.
All of them.
Edit: You can use just about any system for a series of games lasting 6-12 sessions.
Another vote for Call of Cthulhu.
Paranoia or All Flesh Must Be Eaten would be good candidates.
Something gonzo like Gamma World or offbeat like Paranoia, with enough weirdness that there is more than can be explored in a single session. But I find it hard to maintain really long campaign of anything too goofy or weird.
You like Aces & Eights, run a small campaign with that, western would be a good change-up from Superheroes.

Aren't the last three words in your sentence utterly redundant?

Something opposite to the playstyle of your usual campaigns.
If you normally do sandbox, then do a short defined arc.
If you normally use homebrews, then do a published setting.
If you normally focus on low level, then do a high level game.
If you normally play new RPGs, then play something old and obscure.
Call of Cthulhu or The Laundry will work perfectly for short campaigns. Or for something a bit different, you might try Terra Primate.
Now, normally I'd agree that CoC is ideal for this kind of thing. But I know for a fact that I have players who are burnt out on CoC, andmore or less on horror games in general. I do know that some of them are trying to get me to run aces & eights again. We'll see, but I wanted to see if any ideas besides those two were to pop up.
