Title: Beasts and Barbarians SE vs. Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea 2e

Which game do you prefer mechanics-wise and setting wise for sword & sorcery fun?

Beasts & Barbarians Steel Edition (Savage Worlds) OR Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea 2e?

I think that question is better answered by if you prefer Savage Worlds or OSR games.

I'm starting to get interested in stand-a-lone RPGs, but my preference would still be Beast and Barbarians.

I am kind of new to playing OSR games but have dabbled with Castles & Crusades and love Dungeon Crawl Classics.  I purchased AS&SH 2e and have been running it.  Tonight will be my 3rd. session.  I enjoy Savage Worlds as well.

I really want something in feel close to the Robert E. Howard Conan stories and when I looked at PDFs of Beats and Barbarians Steel Edition it looked it impressive in that regard.  So far I am having a bit of trouble feeling Robert E. Howard Conan seeping through when running AS&SH. I am not sure if it is due to the OSR rules or the setting or maybe the intro adventure we are running, The Black Moss Hag of Lug, which is thus far mediocre at best.

Barbarians of Lemuria, you can even change Lemuria for Hyboria as a setting if you prefer. The first (and smallest) edition is free to download so you can test it. http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/Bolv2.pdf (http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/Bolv2.pdf)

Using Crypts & Things Remastered to run AS&SH might improve your experience.
