SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Any non-woke/activist filled/agenda driven TTRPG discord communities?

See title.

I was subbed to theosr but I guess it's gone now, and the other osr discord is full of activists and Tourists.

Klytus, I'm bored. What plaything can you offer me today?

An obscure body in the S-K System, Your Majesty. The inhabitants refer to it as the planet... "Earth".

Can you tag people?
Because GMgumshoe has a ttrpg that fits that criteria.

I hang out in their novels and other games channels. They're pretty open to other games.

Friendly group - don't go there and try to start version/political wars - you'll get shut down. Lots of different games discussed.

One thing to remember is that Discord itself as a corporation could be considered mildly to moderately woke and years back had a history of closing down anti-woke gaming discords a few years back from what I remember.  All it takes is one bad apple to join and poison the well by reporting what is said on the discord to the corpo so you're never really safe from the purple haired weirdos.

I don't really understand why Discord is considered appropriate for any groups that tolerate right-wing thoughts- they have a history of screwing with those people, and an open community is extremely open to infiltration (lefty joins on two accounts, posts something against ToS, immediately reports self on other account, repeat for several months and now your server has a "history of problems" or something, and the admins are SJWs who are looking for a signal like this).  This can be worked around with invite-only, but now you are vetting members so you won't end up with anything resembling a community.

These things should probably be on Matrix, and yet, no one bothers to go download Element (or any of the matrix clients) and do that, and Discord has this huge userbase, so everyone who wants to make this just keeps stepping on rakes.

It's no coincidence that SJW-friendly forums, subreddits, and Discords OPENLY discuss how their politics is GOOD, make arguments in FAVOR of their positions, openly discuss politics, openly criticize games and game makers and politicians... while anything opposed to their poison are like "NO POLITICS GUYS" and stuff like that.

Anyway as regarding the discord in OP, I have no idea what happened to it- it was promoted at the top of /r/theosr for months after it had gone belly up, and the dude who was promoting it (including here in this very forum ( https://www.therpgsite.com/pen-paper-roleplaying-games-rpgs-discussion/new-gaming-focused-osr-discord/ ) I don't think went on record as to why he shuttered it.  Either way, it had a "no politics" type rule, as most right-wing-friendly Discords do (it allows the mods to banhammer any noisy infiltrators, who inevitably cannot stop yapping about their crap), so there was a limit to what topics could happen there, just like most places.

I was on that discord. It was run by that Scholarch guy and his pal. It was decent at first but then they tried to moderate politeness. The users would have none of that. So they decided to take their ball and go home rather than transfer admin to several willing users. Scholarch went awol and left smug pal to shut it down.

The problem we run into looking at an author's forum and critique group is:

1. Almost everyone already has a Discord account - most people don't want another account. (Side note: many decent forum software lets you use third party accounts for login.)

2. Almost everyone knows how to (sort of) use Discord - most don't or can't learn another site or app. (Sounds silly, but true - a lot of writers, even younger ones, are not tech savvy.)

3. Discord is free or close enough. Looking at alternatives, the "good" deals still cost money and immediately run into 1 or 2 above.

Element when free is self-hosted. Heck, I could do that. I have the skills. I don't want to. And the self-hosted doesn't appear to let you use logins from other providers. First hosted tier is 5 euros per user per month. (It won't let me change the currency.)

Matrix doesn't require you to self host, though it does give you the ability to do so.  Versus Discord where you cannot, and will be constantly under the thumb of Discord admins.

The only real reason people keep rake-stepping is because they want that huge Discord community, everyone has one.  But Discord simply is absolutely hostile to anyone opposed to social justice warring, creation and adoption of identities, etc.  So any community there is 100% doomed.  It would be like trying to host an anti-CCP discussion forum on weibo.
