Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: SosthenesIt's quite okay. Kult's METROPOLIS is still cooler, but for freaky multi-dimensional stuff the setting is alright. The rules aren't that bad either. Baugh is one of eight people who got writing credit.

Baugh wrote for Kult?  No way!  People who wrote for Kult were chain-smoking neurotics who spent their days reading Crowley and Bukowski and spend all their money on blow and $1500 a night hookers.

He must have made the tea and taken things to the post office.

I think he meant "Baugh wrote for Nexus, which wasn't as cool as Kult."

I think.

Omega World is awesome.  If anyone should write D20 Gamma World for real, it should be Jonathan Tweet.

I'm just saying that Kult's Metropolis is a better city than Nexus.

Kult was written by Scandivanians. You can't read enough or take enough drugs to actually emulate their mindset. The average swedish school boy would make Hunter Thompson and Lovecraft cry.
A likely cause is swedish school girls. Overload.

Kult is the happy fun game compared to Tribe 8. Just stop and think about what Tribe 8 is telling you, and about the implications thereof. I mean, Tribe 8 makes baby Cthulhu cry.

Of course, Kult is a close second. Tons of anguish, despair, cynicism, defeatism, and piss poor attitude. If it is anything like an accurate portrayal of the Swedish zeitgeist, it's no wonder they turned the Germanic trickster god Wodan into the psychopathic perversion of Jesus of Nazareth, Odin.

Quote from: J ArcaneI've met at least one person who liked it actually.  But he wasn't at all a fan of the originals, and hadn't ever played them.

That'll be me and I withdraw it utterly.  With the exception of a couple of ideas (the concept of arguing with your artificially intelligent gun about whether the charging beastie is an endangered species or not and the template that turns you a mangaesque crime fighter and assigns you the duty of protecting a city), all of the awesomeness in GW d20 is nicked from previous editions.  The psy rules are hideously bad, there isn't enough mutations (20 IIRC) and the community-generating rules in one of the supplements were an anti-inspiration for the ones I've written for YotZ: Havens

Well, you don´t run around and select people who should take some too, yes?
Cause that´s what the Baugh-meister did.

I don't know anything about Tribe 8.  What is it trying to tell me?

Humanity is royally fucked, and is being used for the amusement of those the tribes call saviours. At least the fiends in Kult don't lie to you about what they intend for you.

If anything, Omega World should be the next Gamma World. I don't remember if Omega World has mutant plants though.

No, it had pretty much everything else though; remember it was a mini-game after all.  A larger book would have been able to include a lot more, and I assume that mutant plants would not have been ignored as part of that.

Quote from: Bradford C. WalkerI'd sooner play Synnibarr than Baugh's version of Gamma World.

Me too.  In all seriousness, World of Synnibarr seems to be much closer to the loony essence of earlier Gamma Worlds.

Mr. Analytical

Besides which adventure not only had a meta-plot tying it to WW's other supers games but half its page count was a shitty piece of game fiction (allbeit one written by a proper writer) rather than useful stuff you'd want to put in your game.

the rules are good but Adventure!'s far from the perfect game.
