This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I don't nomally do this, but there were some links in a thread at RPG.net that were too good to pass up:

Detailed global paleography
The Paleomap Project
Planetocopia

The last one in particular has some fantastic (in both senses) ideas for worlds to play in. Enjoy!

That's pretty interesting - I'd just note that your first two links are to the same page, though.

Another bloke I know online is looking at using a wet Mars as an alternate fantasy world... I'll hunt up his maps.

Nice! And "timely" - started my Time Travel campaign a couple of weeks back. These might come in handy. :)

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

Oooh, I've been wanting a map of a terraformed Venus. That could work nicely.

Civilization 3 and Alpha Centauri have lots of extremely cool fan-made maps, many of them "terraformed" versions of other planets. Try finding them at places like CivFanatics.

Interesting stuff, but the title of this thread is a misnomer/typo.

There is in fact something called paleography. Here's an intro: Click Here.

All the worlds are populated by furries. Doesn't bother me, and anyway I'd just be using the maps. :D

I just skipped over those parts. The analysis of the planets and maps were excellent though.
