This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

One Alt. History  I haven't seen discussed is : "What if George Patton had gotten his wish and a few months after WORLD WAR II was over the U.S. was at war with the Soviet Union"?

Personally, I think the Alt/History threads DO belong in the roleplaying section - mainly because of an SJG setting book called INFINITE WORLDS. I keep thinking about running a campaign using that boo and I still haven't found just the right angle or hook to start things off for the first few sessions. This is a back-burner idea for when my GURPS:TRAVELLER campaign ends. (if it ever does)

The more well-tthought out alternate history ideas I read or see just means I 'll be better prepared if I ever get to run those games.

For example : I have thought of running one of the "REICH" timelines from ALTERNATE EARTHS-I. (which is also described in INFINITE WORLDS) The map showed that the Nazis had taken control of part of the NorthAmerican continment - but their control ended near tje Ohio & Kentucky border. My idea was that refugees were often escaping across the Ohio river or using the nearby airport to where I live....that doesn't exist in "our" timeline.

In the real timeline there is a shopping Mall two blocks from where I live . (Same one the game store is inside of)  But in the Cincinnati city plan from the  mid 1940s the same intersection of two streets was a batch of farm fields where they were planning to make the Greater Cincinnati International Airport. NEVER happened.   In that timeline it may have - and it would be a nice excuse to use local topo maps for an adventuring group of Good Guys.
