This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Alkemion Studio (free rpg visual writing application): still going strong!

Hi everyone!

For those hearing about it for the first time: Alkemion Studio is a free web application my son and I built to help tabletop RPG creators brainstorm, organize, and write adventures using a visual, node-based approach. We introduced it here about six months ago, and we thought it was a good time to share how it's evolved, and what's coming next.

Since the initial launch, we've kept a steady rhythm of updates (19 releases so far!) and most of the progress has come directly from user feedback. We've focused on refining the core experience and expanding the creative possibilities for building node-based adventures, whether you're outlining a full campaign or jotting down ideas on the go.

Here are some highlights of what's been added since our first post:

- Fully redesigned linking system - You can now create multiple links between nodes, visually drag-and-drop links on the board, add custom names, directions (with arrows and styles), and fine-tune how they're displayed.
- New Node Table - A spreadsheet-style view to sort, filter, and manage all your nodes more efficiently.
- b]Editor upgrades -[/b] Light theme, task lists, more filtering/search options, and inline editing improvements.
- Image Uploads - Available to Patreon supporters due to hosting costs (unlimited uploads).
- Module Duplication - Duplicate your own modules or those shared by others (when allowed), making template re-use much easier.
- Improved Lobby - You can now access the assets library from the Lobby, and organize your modules in unlimited nested folders.
- Mobile UI improvements - better multi-selection, and smoother gestures
- Copy/paste settings - Easily duplicate visual styles across tokens and links.
- lots of smaller quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and performance tweaks. Too many to list here, but the full changelogs are always on our Blog.

We've also been investing a lot of time under the hood, reworking the infrastructure and UI to support new features coming later this year, some of which are things many of you have asked for.

One of the most requested features has been **an offline desktop version**, and we're happy to say that we're planning a **crowdfunding campaign this year** to help make it happen. This would allow people to run Alkemion Studio locally, with all the core features intact and no internet requirement. More details to come soon.

Our goal with Alkemion hasn't changed: we're still committed to keeping the core app free, with a clear roadmap, no data selling, and no ads. The support we've received—from bug reports to feature ideas to Patreon pledges—has meant the world to us. And seeing people actually build and run adventures with it continues to be the most rewarding part of this journey.

Thanks again to everyone who's tried it out, shared feedback, or just sent us kind words. If you've used Alkemion Studio and haven't checked in for a while, we'd love to hear how it's working for you, and what would make it even better.

Cheers!

Alkemion Team, father and son.

Thanks for your interest!

It's still too early to give a definitive timeline — we're currently assessing what it would take to release it.

That said, the timing will largely depend on the success of the crowdfunding campaign, since it would help us free up the time needed to move faster.

A rough estimate would be sometime toward the end of the year.

Okay, sounds good. You might also want to figure out a good way to exchange / import / export data and something like this, I can imagine folks will want to be able to utilize their data outside of it.
