This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Are there any Zweihander RPG fans, here?

And that's weird perfectly normal.

Ok. It might be "perfectly normal", but "normal" or not.....it's still weird.

Hey! I have an idea.

Perhaps I should create a retro-clone of the Zweihander rpg, which is already a retro-clone of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Then I'll hunt down the people who illegally download it. Yeah! I'll hunt down the people who are downloading (illegally, and without paying for it!) copies of an imperfect copy of another imperfect copy of a game that is owned by a multi-billion dollar corporation that is receiving ESG investment capital from trillion dollar giant asset management firms.

And then later on, someone else can create a retro-clone of my retro-clone, which is a retro-clone of Daniel Fox's retro-clone. By the way, I don't know where I'm going with all this...
Did he hunt down people, or just work to shut down a site that illegally shared the files? If the latter, then that's not too unusual either.

He went full Al Gore and declared himself the sole reason for the site's demise. He wanted attention and he got it.

As for the question about originality and new campaigns, Zweihander has little to offer in this area afaik, and it's one of the complaints about the system. They released like a 25 page book that was supposed to encompass all of 40K as a sort of add-on and it just felt like a money grab to me.

All of this is making me want to create an actual retro-clone of Zweihander, just for the "lulz". If someone did that, I wonder how Fox would react...

Probably with far more effort than you'd use to promote your product. The guy's a tool, but he's a hard-working tool.

After creating a few characters, and messing around with the game some already; I can say that I do like the purity of rolling percentile dice.

Instead of a 1 in 6 chance, a 3 in 8 chance, or a 13 in 20 chance, etc.

You get finite % chances of success, right up front.  You have a 37% chance of success.  Roll a 37 or under, to succeed.

Natural math, that's easy to teach.  Your ability score, is pretty much your target number too.  (Aside from GM adjustments to the target number needed, etc.)

Danny would lose his shit if somebody made a clone of Zwei and that's funny as hell as a concept.
