Title: AD&D2e Campaign on Hiatus now playing SW Saga Edition
Post by: GeekyBugle on August 02, 2024, 03:55:25 PM
So, one of our buddies had to bow out for a while for personal reasons, we could have continued playing and even playing his PC with his blessing but since we're getting close to the campaign's end and a couple of big battles with the Big Bad Guys we felt it was better to put it on hiatus until he can come back to play.

Our GM offered several different options for a "mini" campaign which included Heroic (https://www.therpgsite.com/pen-paper-roleplaying-games-rpgs-discussion/new-super-hero-game-based-on-faserip-heroic-on-backerkit/), saddly I was outvoted by the other two players and we're playing Star Wars Saga Edition, just had the first ACTUAL game session.

Our GM is good and we all know the IP well enough, we're playing AFTER Return of the Jedi, as Mercenaries on a planet not under the new Republic's control.

The System is D20 so we're all familiar enough with it.

Here's hoping the system works well enough for the setting.

No Force users around, no Jedi, No Sith and no whatever the Space Witches (Disney pulled out of it's corporate ass) are.

Just for fun, this might be a handy tool for the GM that I wrote.

Enjoy! I played two mini-campaigns of SW Saga Edition years ago and enjoyed them both. The system has its quirks (Destiny Points can be extremely potent if players decide to blow them all at the end of the campaign), but it's one of the most solid versions of d20 out there.

(The Witches have roots in the old EU, but have evolved tremendously from the original "superstitious descendants of students of a lost Jedi" they were originally. The big shift was The Clone Wars making them major players and changing their powers from OT-Force-with-different-trappings to magic-for-all-intents-and-purposes.)

I'll be curious to hear about your thoughts as you get into the system; largely because SWSaga was an early testbed for 4E's mechanics.

Well, I'll report back when I have a few more sessions under my belt.
