Title: A question about Dark Albion's Appendix P
Post by: Frey on April 28, 2016, 08:31:19 PM
I really like the Pundit's "quick & dirty" houserules, but there is a thing I don't understand. Every time the character gains a level, you roll on the benefits table. Are these benefits in addition to the usual ones you get in other OSR games (I use LotFP), or do they replace them? I would thing the latter if it weren't for spell levels.

I *bump* the thread because the Pundit didn't see it.

Very sorry that I didn't catch this. I've been a bit busy lately!

The class rules as they're laid out in appendix P are meant to REPLACE standard D&D class rules, not to be added on top of them.

The "alternate spellcasting rules" explain how spells would normally work in the Appendix P system; but if you didn't like those, you could still use the standard spell tables from LotFP for the casting classes, in terms of how many spells can theoretically be cast per day, while using the tables to figure out how many spells a magister or cleric actually has access to.

Thanks! Yes, this makes sense.

And btw, these rules are perfect for a WFRP style of play.

Thank you! I quite like them myself; so do my players!
