Now, how wil the doom 'n' gloom patrol spin this into a conspiracy theory about Mearl's nefarious intent?
I was about to Doom and Gloom but looking at 'the Great Modron March' I couldn't muster the rage :)

Yeah that's a wonderful piece (both in terms of subject matter and artistry) :)
I'd rather wait for it to be right than get a crappy product on time.
+++ NEWSFLASH +++ NEWSFLASH +++ Hasbro stock plummets by OVER 9.000 points - billions of jobs in jeopardy +++ Hundreds of angry gamers surround Mike Mearls house and demand their DMG NOW - situation unclear +++ President Obama adresses the nation and urges everyone to keep up Hope for the timely arrival of the MM1 +++
Well, we've got the Basic DM Rules for now, and will get our monsters on time.
The only DMG thing for immediate play I actually miss is stuff on henchmen and morale, and I guess I can wing that bit with olde-timey rulings for a couple of weeks more.
You Maniacs! You blew it up!

Agreed, I'm enjoying the fact that the PHB needs little errata so I'm fine with waiting.
Man. Bummer.
Ah, first world problems.
A mere three weeks is nothing if it allows time to catch errors and improve the quality of the final product. And the new launch day is just a few days before my birthday which works out very nicely for me.

It's just after mine, which is mainly the disappointment to me, I was sorta hoping maybe someone would give me the set.
If that delay makes the book better, I'm all for it.
(I bet it's a delay in shipping from China, instead of any QA stuff. Any news on dock worker strikes?)

Mearls has said that box sets are produced overseas, but books are printed domestically.
