This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Marleycat;773340Who's S. John Ross? (I found out about Vincent recently because of G+).

Guy who created Risus, Uresia: Grave of Heaven, and Pokethulhu, and also he designs some pretty neat fonts.

Quote from: Larsdangly;786974An encounter with a weird and potentially life threatening monster is not game wrecking. It is the game.

Currently panhandling for my transition/medical bills.

Very cool.:)

So he's a bit new school I gather? That's fine given my favorite game of all time is Mage the Awakening. And the GM/FWC reboot is nothing short of amazing so far thanks to Dave. And he has Malcom on the team also? Pure insane.
Don\'t mess with cats we kill wizards in one blow.;)

S John Ross is also responsible for the great Encounter Critical,  which I fucking live. And believe me,  the man responsible for it is someone I want having a say in D&D.
Yeah, but who gives a fuck? You? Jibba?

Well congrats. No one else gives a shit, so your arguments are a waste of breath.

No, he predates new school. His earlier work was for GURPS...

Encounter Critical rocks.

Ross seems like a skilled dude.

A lot of people don't realize (or have forgotten) how cool and inventive games have been since the beginning.

Torg came out in 1990, and had some AMAZEBALLS game design, for example.
This forum is great in that the moderators aren\'t jack-booted fascists.

Unfortunately, this forum is filled with total a-holes, including a bunch of rape culture enabling dillholes.

So embracing the \'no X is better than bad X,\' I\'m out of here. If you need to find me I\'m sure you can.

He is, and my G+ interaction with him suggest he's a fantastic, stand-up guy too. Almost makes me want to trawl used bookstores for his GURPS stuff.

Regarding his preferences, he recently asked for new game recommendations "as long as they're not D&D or storygames" — the poor bastard. ;)

For me, John Ross is the guy who wrote GURPS Russia, one of the best historical supplements ever.
Grając zaś w grę komputerową, być może zdarzyło się wam zapragnąć zejść z wyznaczonej przez autorów ścieżki i, miast zabić smoka i ożenić się z księżniczką, zabić księżniczkę i ożenić się ze smokiem.

Nihil sine magno labore vita dedit mortalibus.

And by your sword shall you live and serve thy brother, and it shall come to pass when you have dominion, you will break Jacob's yoke from your neck.

Hm, I better look thru my GURPS collection again to see wich ones he's been at.

Most GURPS stuff is well worth buying, anyhow, imo. :)

Ha yes, that sounds a bit like using a wasp's nest for a football. :D

Novastar

Ken Hite is a very cool dude, but I always knew where he was at DunDraCon and KublaCon; I don't know exactly why, but he ALWAYS has a gaggle of gamers around him, like he's Gamer Jesus and they're his flock of Gamer Disciples.

It's particularly strange, when some of them follow him into the pisser.
Quote from: dragoner;776244Mechanical character builds remind me of something like picking the shoe in monopoly, it isn\'t what I play rpg\'s for.

Akrasia

Very glad to see Jeff Grubb, Kenneth Hite, Robin Laws, and S. John Ross on the list.

So far as I can tell the main plan behind 5E has been to make a game which all of the people on the "consultant" list can sit around the same table and play without killing each other. An insanely overblown ambition, but they seem to have succeeded so far as I can tell.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

Well put!
