Not super funny, but nice and consistently old school:

Well, I LOL'd. :D
Or whatever it is the young punks do when they read something on teh Intarweb that they find amusing.
Finally, the REAL issues: Ring Mail, electrum pieces and the d12.
If it hasn't got Ring Mail in it it's not D&D, I don't care where you're coming from!
I thought that is was splint mail that it was unclear if it existed, not ring mail.
YAY!!!!
Continues playing 1st ed.
#12 and #20 I can get behind fully. The rest I'll just be polite and laugh along with. ;)
Now that's a list I can support.
I just about agreed with all of that!
The Keep on the Borderlands isn't in Greyhawk though- it's in Mystara.

Yep. It's Basic, not AD&D.

I thought with AD&D, they tied it, along with
The Village of Hommlet, into the
White Plume Mountain series? Wasn't there a reference to it? Granted, it's been many, many years since I broke that module out; am I misremembering?

I was confused, so I broke it out. It's clear that it's Basic - but there's no reference in the module to the overall campaign setting to which it belongs. There is reference to it being fine for use with AD&D, but nothing about Mystara versus Greyhawk.
Now I never played Mystara - or paid much attention to it - so if they tied it in there after the fact, I am unaware of it.
As I recall, the module was vague on placement, just some frontier area, I think later Mystara maps showed the actual location of the Keep.

I do know that Mystara came out way after the modules, and way after my first recollection that there was a tie in. So perhaps after Mystara came out, they re-did the location settings.
Well, according to wikipedia, it was retroactively placed in Grayhawk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dungeons_&_Dragons_modules
because B1 In Search of the Unknown was in Grayhawk.
Someone needs to print that out and go nail it up on the doors of WotC. LOL!
The points about electrum and halflings make me wanna say "PREACH ON BROTHER!" Kender ain't halflings...
Re: the location of the Keep On the Borderlands: I say it's on both, just like Blackmoor can be found both in Greyhawk and Mystara, and Kara-Tur exists both on Greyhawk and the Forgotten Realms. Alternate Prime Material Planes and all that jazz.

Well, I think it was on Grayhawk, then Mystara came out in what, 1991?, and hardly anyone ever played(s) it, so now it's kind of back in Grayhawk. I don't think it really matters though. I suppose since
technically B1 mentions Grayhawk, then the B series really belongs there, and WOTC then created a whole new campaign world to link all of the rest of them together.
For me, it all was in Grayhawk, as that's where we linked them when we were playing them in the early/mid 80s. In fact, I remember having our characters escape Isle of Dread only to shipwreck on a coast with the most distinguishable feature being a large volcano with a white plume of smoke coming from it. ;)

I think The Keep is D&D's equivalent of Schrodinger's Cat.

Mmmmmm. Yes. Considering Frontier Forts of Kelnore is located in the Wilderlands setting near the City State ...
Quote14)Let's at least go back to the charming hypocrisy of bludgeoning weapons somehow being thought of as more merciful.
I always thought the cleric's weapon restriction was based on the (false) idea that medieval priests were forbidden to draw blood, and so used maces.

According to Wikipedia ring mail existed but the term isn't used by historians any more, and splint armour was only worn on the limbs with another type of armour on the chest.
