Title: [Zombies, Run!] Calling all Runner 5s!
Post by: Herne's Son on February 03, 2015, 11:45:16 AM
Just curious if anyone here has been "playing" "Zombies, Run! (https://www.zombiesrungame.com/)"?

I started it about a year and a half ago. At first my runs were really more 'jog, walk, try not to puke, repeat..." but I stuck with it and now I'm running up to five miles at a stretch three times a week.

Not only is the storyline engaging, and the base building gameplay is amusing, but it's a damn fine way to get back into shape.

I guess it's sort of like a hybrid Solo LARP/exercise program/solo CRPG/Theater of the Mind's Eye kind of thing.

Also, there have been more than a few shout outs to D&D, the Cthulhu Mythos, and other such geeky offerings (indeed one 'mission' starts out going out to raid shops for batteries, tools, etc. but then your radio contact discovers an RPG shop in town, and sends you off to collect a bunch of "Demons & Darkness" books, miniatures, dice, etc.).

So, as I said up top, just curious if anyone else here is playing it. I just finished Season 2, and have started in on Season 3. Lots and lots of fun.

I've never seen this before. Looks interesting. Once it's no longer freeze your face off cold here, I might give it a go. I could use some encouragement to get off my butt more often, and wrapping a game around that is probably one of the best ways to do it.
