I know a lot of people here don't follow videogames, and so might have missed this. Short version:
Somebody modded the Baldur's Gate III characters into the extremely popular farming sim Stardew Valley, and WOTC issued them a DMCA takedown notice, even though the CEO of Larian Studios (which made BG3) personally endorsed the mod. The move was so universally unpopular that WOTC is now having to not only back down, but pretend the DMCA was a mistake (https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/wizards-of-the-coast-scores-pr-masterstroke-bullies-bg3-stardew-mod-that-had-swen-vinckes-personal-approval-off-the-internet-with-a-dmca/).
In the videogaming scene, copyright claims against fan content are a very hot topic and extremely unpopular; it's probably in the top 5 most reliable ways to generate hostility. So this is a cataclysmically stupid move, especially for a company that's only had one videogame success in the last 20 years.
Come, now.
Who doesn't have that issue that you send out takedown notices by accident?
Happens to me all the time!

Why just yesterday I accidentally issued 3 C&Ds! Mea Culpa.
