A quick breakdown of the Pros and Cons of the systems:

Wii

Pros: Price ($250 with a pack in game), Nintendo Franchises (Zelda, Mario, Pokemon), Unique control scheme (Wiimote, Nunchuck), Wi-Fi support out of the box.

Big Game: Legen of Zelda: The Twilight Princess

Coming Soon: Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros.,

Cons: Power (only moderately more powerful than the GameCube), Unique Control Scheme (Does it work? Can I play Street Fighter on it?), No HD support.

PS3
Pros: Power (The most power potential of all the new systems), Sony First Party developers (Incog Inc., Naughty Dog, Insomniac), Full Integration with the PSP.

Big Game: Resistance: Fall of Man

Coming Soon: Metal Gera Solid 4

Cons: Price ($500-600 depeneding on the model, no pack in game), Questionable 3rd Party Support (Many developers are delaying or cancelling their projects).

Xbox 360

Pros: Proven Excellent Online Support (Xbox Live Arcade), Back Library (360 has been out for a year now, with plenty of good games), Direct Interactivity with Zune and Widows Vista.

Big Game: Gears of War

Coming Soon: Halo 3

Cons: Price ($500 for the only version worth buying, $50 a year for X-Box Live Gold account), Frequent Technical Issues (console bricking, damaging discs), Weak First Party (besides Bungie, the rest of the Microsoft Game Studios are crap).

So I'm getting a Wii. It's both interesting and inexpensive. Even the 3rd party developers are going crazy with it. It looks like it will bring new kinds of games instead of just better graphics.

Which one are you getting?

I already have a X360.  It's growing on me.

I'll be buying a PS3 when Tekken comes out.  So, sometime next year.

I see no reason to get a Wii.  Nothing on the horizon is of interest, either.  I'll probably end up with one in 2 or 3 years, just because I do usually tend to end up with all the consoles of a generation, but there's certainly nothing compelling about the system.

J Arcane

Eh, so far I'm not buying a one of them.

Sony can choke on the PS3, and there's no damn games worth paying such an obscene price for anyway.

There's not really anything at all I want on the 360 either.

The Wii looks like a cheap gimmick that's likely to turn out as well as the DS in terms of gameplay:  Lots of shitty minigames, or games with Wii-style controls grafted on uneccessarily.

I'm stickin' with my PC, and the occasional PSP game.  Once I get a new vid-capture card I'll probably pick up an old Xbox, but that's about it.

Wii!  Wii!

It calls to me from the mists!  Shigeru Miyamoto haunts my dreams with ethereal images of Link and Mario!

I am powerless to resist.

I'm with you on this. I lost faith in Nintendo after the last couple generations. But the Wii looks like it's trying to do something REALLY different with gaming. It's got me all giddy about gaming (the videogaming kind) again.

The Wii also has LOTS of games I want. Zelda, Raving Rabbids, Mario Galaxy, Red Steel, Wii Sports (BTW, I want a FPS with Mii's).

That back library of Nintendo, Super Nintendo (EarthBound Woooo!), N64 (please give me Goldeneye....Please!), Genesis, and TurboGrafx 16 games will be awesome too.

Got the 360. I can play video games, download crap to it, watch the porn on my pc by connecting to my windows media center, attach a HDDVD to it, and soon HiDef movies.

360 FTW!!

In a perfect world where I have money flying out of my butt, I'd buy all three.  I'm not likely to buy any one of them any time soon in this world, but maybe later when the prices drop and the games are plenty.

That said, I think that the most revolutionary of 'em is the Wii.  It's frantically ridiculous name aside, its interface, and its place in your home, is what marks it as truly next-gen.

I dunno, maybe I'll get a PS3.  Whatever.  Just so I can play that futuristic GTA game that no one plans to make for me anyway.

Mind you, the Wii also comes with a standard controller (which somewhat resembles the venerable SNES one). It has a small HD, and you can get memory cards for it. The games also seem to cost less than the 360 and PS3, and the Virtual Console is just the icing of the cake.

I would kill for another cyberpunk-style GTA, like what was done with GTA2.  Positively kill.

If you're talking about the "Retro controller", as far as I've read that is available separately.  Only a Wiimote and a Nunchuk controller come with the system.

The hard drive is internal flash memory of 512 MB.

The games are projected to cost $50.

Yes, that's what I heard. You'll be able to buy memory sticks (1 or 2 GB, IIRC), and the retro ("Classic") controller will sell for $19.99.

Rezendevous

I have a 360 and I like it a lot, but I am concerned about whether or not it will break down too soon, and I wish there were more games available for it (although this is getting better, and there are all the Xbox games I can play on it that I missed since I never got the original Xbox).

I wouldn't have any interest in getting a PS3 (mainly because there hasn't been anything announced for it that is not also going to be on the 360 that I am interested in) except that my PS2 is broken.  However, I still lean towards getting it fixed or even buying a new PS2 than getting the PS3, especially since I have serious doubts as to how it will turn out over the long term in terms of support and game availability.

The Wii looks interesting, though.

Mr. Analytical

I say don't buy any of them and spend the money on books and cake instead.

Hurrah for books and cake!

Boo to the creatively sterile hackfest that is the videogame industry!

peteramthor

Well the only one of the three that I could afford, or more correctly, justify spending that much money on would be the Wii.  But I was never a real big Nintendo fan.  The new controllers and such look neat but I would want to play before I buy.

The PS3 and XBox 360 are just to high.  Sad since the Silent Hill series is my favorite video game series of all time.  For as much as they are costing I could upgrade my computer to play games just as good for half the price.

Well there's my two cents.
