This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Doctor Jest;770132I've heard really good things about this, it's definitely on my to-buy list. I like personal focused games that get really dark.

It's in a humble bundle for the next few days.

Incidentally, that's a damn good bundle.

Quote from: flyerfan1991;770148I miss the original Master of Orion.

I'm another MoO player, though 4x'ers I had to sort of give up because they became addictive.

It's the Paradox games for me, that and Civ 4. Gods, the hours, the hours.

Doom

I used to Moo2 back in the day. There just hasn't been a good 4x space game that's done as well.

Endless Space is the closest I've seen, and it's pretty good.

I don't because I have it and still play it, although I prefer MOO2. Which I also have.

Both MOO and MOO2 are available in a package at GOG for $5.99, btw, including network support to play online. Every once and a while the wife break it out and waste a weekend fighting each other over the galaxy.

I agree, Endless Space is the best modern space 4x, hands down.

A modernized MOO2 would be just fantastic, but really MOO2 still holds it's own.

All MOO or MOO2 would need is updated graphics to handle the better monitors.

C3C, plus mods from like civ fanatics, I had to quit, way too much "just another hour", I looked at C4&5 nervously and said no. Paradox is good, so are the Matrix ones, spent way too much time on Starships Unlimited, even though it was quite limited; it is an evil day when I can find a game where I can design starships and have them fight it out.

Yep, that's another one that's fun, although hardly a life-drainer. Gratuitious Tank Battles is more of a tower defense game, but still has some fun it due to some decent writing.

Xenonauts - which is an old school X-Com clone.  Turn based, sprite animated, isometric view. Lots of resource management outside of combat missions. Really high mortality rate if played stupidly and rather unforgiving of mistakes and poor strategy.

Me and my team of old bastards, are currently weening ourselves off of Battlefield 4... after playing the unholy shit out of it...

and now playing Wildstar... a game I was dead-set on hating. But now I respect it. It's pretty damn challenging on the raiding front. (if you give a shit about such things).

I'm just filling in time until EQ Next.

Got my eyes set on:

I'm kinda hankering to do some competitive Streetfighter IV... but I don't think my twitch is good enough anymore.

For "chillin" - I play Civ IV (sometimes Civ V)

If I want to give myself rage, and want to smash my monitor - I play X-Com:Enemy Unknown on Difficult in Ironman Mode.

BTW - Moo2 is probably in my top 5 games of all time. I know there's another Moo on the way... but after Moo3... ugh... My hopes aren't high. GalCiv IV is coming tho. So one can be hopeful.

Playing Mass Effect 2 for the third time now (last time was fall 2012 - almost 2 years ago), this game is so good - best in the trilogy IMHO.

I'm still playing tons of World of Warplanes. I love this game. I play a few matches of World of Tanks once in a while, but it's gotten a bit boring for me.

I recently downloaded Hawken, and I really like it. Best mecha game I've played in a while.

I tried Warthunder but ended up deleting it after a few days. The controls in game are much worse than WoWP, but it was still a tough choice, as Warthunder has a lot better options for planes.

During the Steam sale, I got the Rise of Heroes set. It's basically an interactive Superhero choose-your-own-adventure, and I really like it. Probably has limited replay value, but the first run-through was great.

I also tried Planetside 2, but I really didn't care for the game. Dropped it after about an hour of play time.

I remain firmly in the Blizzard camp, primarily World of Warcraft. I am also in the Beta for the next expansion (Warlords of Draenor), and in the Technical Alpha for their MOBA (Heroes of the Storm), when I'm not playing Hearthstone. (No interest in Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2.)
