Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

from my steam list, in no particular order:
Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 - Divinity games, you know.
Solasta - a 5e crpg adaptation. Subpar voice acting, story and general presentation, but good level design, party building and tactical combat.
Shadowrun games (Returns, Hong Kong, Dragonfall) - kinda like Solasta above, but it's Shadowrun.
Wasteland 2 and 3 -  good level design, party building and tactical combat
Invisible Inc - party rogue-like with twist. Good presentation.
if you open your mind too much your brain will fall out

I liked Disco Elysium. As I recall most everyone's philosophy or worldview led to disaster, so no bias.
I didn't like Wasteland Remastered, it pissed me off.
The Shadowrun games were fun.
If you're gonna play Mass Effect I recommend only playing the first one. They got worse from there.
I didn't like Civilization: Beyond Earth. Just didn't have the attraction of the old ones.
Tyranny bored me.
Greedfall was fun if you could ignore the preachy "colonialism is bad" outlook.
UnderRail was fun for a while, but eventually I got bored and uninstalled it.
As I mentioned elsewhere I liked Atom RPG, a Fallout 1 & 2 tribute.
Unavowed was a fun supernatural adventure game.
Enderal is a great fantasy Skyrim conversion module that I really enjoyed. It's a whole different world.

If you can play Cyberpunk I hate you. ;-) My rig can't take it.

Here is a fair video on Disco Elysium: https://youtu.be/qLBaB3kQKT0
Make up your own mind, but I'd stay away....

May I recommend instead Planescape Torment. Can't beat a classic! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planescape:_Torment
Also, if you like the system Torment: Tides of Numenera: https://youtu.be/ZInSd3P53SU

Then there is my favorite DANGANRONPA... but it's a VN and not at all a game. :(

Thanks for the recomendations.

It remains to be seen, my friend said he was playing it on low settings, I'll have to try it won't I?

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

After Reckall went mental I suspected anything he recomends should be viewed with suspicion. Same goes for his comrades that also went mental.

Since I can play TableTop simulator I think I'll buy the totally not WH40K mod for it, have two friends who love it, might entice them to play online.

So, I'm sorry to say that PS: Torment is on my top ten of... everything.  :)

As it happens, Steam has a sale on Visual Novels right now:

https://store.steampowered.com/category/visual_novel

I think that it is a kind of Socialist thingie or such.

Other titles that I thought about:

- The vanishing of Ethan Carter. This is a game that everybody and his sister suggested on the internet. You are Paul Prospero, hard boiled psychic detective, on his last case. A boy, Ethan Carter, wrote to you. He fears for his life - mostly that he will be killed by his own family. You have to help him. The game is a "small open world" set in a truly beautifully valley (the developers used Unreal Engine 3 but they issued a version upgraded to UE4 for free). The plot is David Lynch meets the X-Files. No politics and an astounding beautiful final twist.

- The Observer. It is ironic that the last "role" of the late Rutger Hauer was for this game, while being one of his best. You (voiced by Hauer) are a detective in an indefinite cyberpunk city with the ability to enter the minds of deceased people - a very dangerous action no matter what.It is a deep down delve into the psyche of - don't forget this - dead people, mixed with dark cyberpunk. I don't even remember the ending, only that the whole was a trip.
For every idiot who denounces Ayn Rand as "intellectualism" there is an excellent DM who creates a "Bioshock" adventure.

As far as twinstick shooters go; Relic Hunters: Zero, Assault Android Cactus, Nuclear Throne, Alien Swarm and Synthetik are what I enjoy to play!

Edit: Maybe not RHZ, I remember they sex-changed two characters after an update and redesigned the character art to be more in-line with artstyles used in FB/G advertisements and 5e fanart. I recommend geometry wars instead; Or any neon wireframe twinstick on Steam, loads of them have free demo's, like echoes+.

Valheim survival/adventure but less grindy than most and good rpg elements and a blast with friends.  NWN on some of the persistent servers is pretty good and a lot of fun with friends.  I also enjoy an action rpg at times and grimdawn takes the cake for me.

If you want to play Cyberpunk, but your computer isn't a beast, you might try NVidia's GeForce NOW game streaming service. It essentially allows you to play games on a more capable system in a server farm somewhere. It works well for Cyberpunk, but a good internet connection is essential.

No More Room In Hell (NMRIH) is free on steam if you want romero-zombie survival horror where inventory and getting tired are super important. Though admittedly the game should instead be called "where the hell is all the ammo?" because you are going to learn to melee to die...well, you'll probably still die, but the point stands, ammo can be rare and a lead pipe is your best friend.

If your comp could handle it i'd suggest DCS World, with combined arms module you can command ships armies or drive most ground vehicles as well. You get the frogfoot and a p51 trainer for free, can trial the others for free, and right now i think there is a sale on wrt to most modules...and first time buyers get an additional 50% off the total too, so you could get for example the f-18 module normally 80 bucks for 40, and then whatever else you add, the total gets cut in half again...excellent time to start if your rig can swing it and you like a digital sandbox of planes tanks ships and plastic army men of sorts to play with.

After a long while without a way to play anything good on my PC a friend gifted me his old evga geforce gtx 1060, turns out my 650 W power supply is enough, so I don't need to buy one.
Faster Than Light
Rimworld
Slay The Spire

These games should run on most hardware.

Banjo Destructo

Instead of the newer X-Com games, I suggest Xenonauts 1,   Xenonauts 2 is out but it needs a little more updating before it will be as good as/better than 1.
Axiom Verge was good.
Tabletop Simulator is good to play many other games with friends.
Fallout: New Vegas is fun

The Dragon Quest Builders games are on Steam.

They combine the RPG elements of Dragon Quest with the block building gameplay of Minecraft.

Or to put it a different way, they're Minecraft with a Dragon Quest storyline and an astonishing degree of polish and personality.

The village building experience of DQB2 is light years ahead of Minecraft.
