Title: Some help with the offical Oblivion mods...
Post by: pandiculator on June 08, 2006, 12:40:39 AM
Alright, so I finally splurged and bought all of the "official" Bethesda mods. I downloaded the installation exe's, and have my activation codes...But, I'm running into some difficulty.

If I start the exe, and tell it to register on the internet, it asks for my verification code. I enter the code correctly, hit next...and the exe hangs. Every time, without fail, no matter which of the four I attempt to install.

Anybody else have this problem/care to guess a solution?

Most of the folks I have seen with this problem had to log in with the administrator account on the PC to install them properly.  Not sure if that helps, but it is the only solution I have seen so far.

They won't even run on my PC unless I boot in safe mode.

Give that a shot - safe mode with network support, specifically.

Do, or do not.  There is no try.

Let us know how it worked out.

In my case, I got an error which is characteristic of trying to install the mods on Win64.  Thing is, I'm running Win32.  I'm not positive, but it might be the AMD 64-bit processor driver that was killing it, and safe mode simply prevented this driver from loading.

Still no luck with safe mode, and I am having trouble finding the files on the administrator account. I'll try again later tonight.

Copy them to a folder on the root of the CD Drive.  You should be able to get to them, then.

If you saved the files to the desktop, then when in as admin, go to My Computer, C Drive, Documents and Settings, and then pick your login account name.  From there, go to Desktop, and you should see the files.

Amazing. The admin trick did it, after putting the files in a location that I could find them...

It's intresting, because they were in a folder on my user account's desktop. On the admin account, I found the data for my user desktop (icons, the other folders, etc) but, the one folder I had specifically created for this purpose was nowhere to be found.

Thanks for the tips, guys!
