This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So, who is playing this? What are your impressions ?

Peregrin

Own it, haven't had a chance to play it yet.  I might get some friends together later on this month to try it out.

Seems cool, and I like a lot of the ideas, but I'm curious to see if it comes together well at the table.
"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."

I played it at a con a few weeks ago. I liked the premise a lot, but I found the resolution mechanic, with playing cards, intrusive to the action.

DKChannelBoredom

I saw it online a couple of months ago, and people talked a bit about around here, and I love the style, premise and cards, and the box looks fantastic from those pictures.

It's just so freakin' expensive, expecially if it were to be shipped here.

But it's really a game I'm interested in trying.
Running: Call of Cthulhu
Playing: Mainly boardgames
Quote from: Cranewings;410955Cocain is more popular than rp so there is bound to be some crossover.

Lizaur

I love that boxed sets packed with stuff, moreso if it is so nicely produced.

(And the chick is hot, in a nerdy manner).
CAUTION: Non-native english speaker ahead. Please be nice.

Just in case, I guess.

Well, it certainly looks interesting. It's quite clearly an RPG. It also appears to be on the expensive side. So either way, I'll be giving it a pass.

Freemarket Station has a reputation economy, so the best way to gain power and influence and get the things you want is to earn respect by being clever, talented, and altruistic. Players decide what it is they want and that's what the game's about. Since it is a post-death, post-scarcity world, it could be pretty much anything. You can make stuff (like apple trees and memes) if you've got enough reputation, but there's only so far you can go without bumping up against somebody else who wants the same mindshare you do. I haven't played but I've read the game and watched Jared running it at Origins - it seems to revolve around very intense conflicts about excellent stuff like making the best possible batch of soba noodles or popularizing a particular set of dance moves.

A good literary analogy is Cory Doctorow's book Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, or maybe some Charles Stross.
Check out Fiasco, "Best RPG" Origins Award nominee, Diana Jones Award and Ennie Judge\'s Spotlight Award winner. As seen on Tabletop!
