Title: Premise Riddle #5
Post by: Cyberzombie on April 28, 2006, 06:16:42 PM
Yes, this is ancient.  Yes, half of you probably already know it.  Yeah, it may be obvious even if you haven't heard it before.  But it's Name Lips' fault I'm even doing this, so blame him.  :p

Two men are locked in a room with fifty-two bicycles.  One of the men (Al) counts them and discovers that there are actually fifty-three bicycles.  So he shoots the other guy (Bob) in the head.

Why?

Just to confirm: The man who counted the bicycles shot the other man in the head, right?

Hopefully this doesn't ruin it (and I haven't heard it before).

But the first guy that counted 52 was he sitting on a bicycle and forgot to count that one?

Does "of them" refer to people instead of bikes?

Dang it!  The quote didn't stick.  This is in response to Thjalfi's food source question.

No.

Ye gods, I sound illiterate in my first post!  Let me edit it so that I have proper noun/verb agreement, at least.   <-- at me

Your question should be clarified after that.  :)

So was my class the first time we went through it.

Look at the (revised) initial post and question your assumptions.  :)

Does the original number of bicycles (52) have anything to do with a deck of cards (i.e., is the fact that a deck of cards has 52 cards relevent to this puzzle?)

Ack!! That's it. Bicycle is the name of a brand of cards.  The other guy was cheating at cards so he shot him for it.
